Sydney Festival 2014: Paradiso - Future Classic present Jacques Renault

  • Future Classic are calling in two international house heavyweights to keep the Paradiso dance floor heaving. On the New York tip we have DJ/producer/label head extraordinaire Jacques Renault, who‟ll be bringing the raw house and disco treats from the Big Apple, while up and coming UK house maestro Medlar goes a little deeper with a banging summer set. Rounding out the bill are two of Future Classic‟s local rising stars Touch Sensitive and Wave Racer, not to mention the label‟s own DJs to keep you dancing into the wee hours of the morning. Jacques Renault is not the fat guy from David Lynch‟s Twin Peaks, suffocated to death by the father of murdered Laura Palmer. Our Jacques Renault is a young and handsome American DJ and producer, recently voted Best NYC DJ for Paper‟s Night Life Awards, who has held coveted residencies at New York venues Happy Endings, APT, Tribeca Grand and 205 Club and runs his own label, On the Prowl. South Londoner Medlar plays vinyl 90% of the time in his live sets, influenced by an eclectic mix of disco, early Chicago House, Detroit House, and hip-hop. With smooth and jazzy snare hits throughout, Medlar‟s release Terrell cemented his position as a sought after producer within the house scene and his remix of young electronic sibling duo Disclosure‟s „Boiling‟ made waves since the release of their 2013 EP Control. Touch Sensitive is the alias of Michael Di Francesco (keyboardist and synth-wizard from Sydney electro pop group Van She). His debut single „Body Stop‟ was one of the first tracks released on Future Classic in 2004, becoming a cult favourite among DJ circles from East London to Brooklyn. In 2012, Touch Sensitive and Anna Lunoe‟s „Real Talk‟ spent five months at the top of the Beatport indie-dance charts. Touch Sensitive‟s 2013 debut EP Pizza Guy was hailed by Stoney Roads for its mix of Nu Disco and Dreamwave and its “PHAT, pulsating synth work”. 21 year old Tom Purcell is Wave Racer, who has been hailed by inthemix as “the next Flume” and recently joined Nina Las Vegas on Triple J‟s House Party tour with Flight Facilities and Cassian. Wave Racer‟s recently released single „Rock U Tonite‟ was the #1 most played song on Triple J, he has received praise from BBC Radio 1‟s Rob Da Bank and reached #2 on the coveted Hype Machine charts. Catch this Aussie prodigy while you can.
