After eight hectic days and nine slamming nights at The Residence it’s just about time to take a breather... But not quite. Red Bull Music Academy (RBMA) present the official closing party for Melbourne Music Week.
Travelling the world with their renowned series of musical workshops, festivals and club nights, The RBMA is celebrating its 15th anniversary with an eclectic and vibrant party line-up. Shimmy-shaking and samba-swaying their way into The Residence for one hell of a closing party, RBMA presents a 12-hour afro-tropical extravaganza.
Music lovers will be transported to an African paradise, hypnotized by the unique sounds of Awesome Tapes From Africa (USA) – a zany party-mix created from Brian Shimkovtiz’s collection of cassette music, sourced from all over the diaspora, while the Invisible City Soundsystem (CAN) serve up a mix of afro-disco, dance floor calypso and deep island soul ballads.
A jaw-dropping line-up of international and local acts will also take to the stage, keeping the rhythm going from midday to midnight with a concoction of tribal house, contemporary African funk and after-hours soul. Providing a platform for the movers and shakers of today’s industry, RBMA presents Tako (ESP Institute/Red Light Records/NLD), Jamie Bennett & Julien Love, DJ Manchild, Scatter Scatter Soundsystem, Broadway Sounds, Kano vs Ennio Styles with Elvis Aljus on percussion, Kirkis, Jamie Bennett, Andras Fox and No Zu.
