I Love Techno 2014

  • The summer festivals might be in full flow but the team from I Love Techno is busy putting together the biggest dance festival of the autumn. A couple of weeks back the presence of Underworld, Gesaffelstein backtoback with Brodinski and Jeff Mills was announced and today six new names have been added to the line-up: Klangkarussell, Clean Bandit, Len Faki, DJ Rush, Jimmy Edgar and Paula Temple. I Love Techno takes place on Saturday 8 November in Flanders Expo, Ghent. Tickets are on sale now. A more detailed programme will soon be released. The Austrian Klangkarussell hit the big time with “Sonnentanz” and proved they have more than saxophone house to offer with the follow up “Netzwerk”. At I Love Techno they will be showcasing their debut album, out on 28 July. The British band Clean Bandit is also part of the current house revival. They had the spring hit of the year with “Rather Be”, with an interesting mix of house and classical music. Their first CD “New Eyes” is a definite crowd-pleaser. Clean Bandit will be performing live on stage as an eight-man outfit. The group feels like the best of Basement Jaxx, Massive Attack or Rudimental, which is also signed to the Black Butter label. Len Faki is one of the best techno DJs of the moment and is a popular act at I Love Techno. Faki is a resident DJ in the influential German club Berghain and the man behind labels such as Figure Music, Figure SPC and Podium. DJ Rush is yet another key figure from the techno scene. He debuted on Trax Records in 1991 and made history with the track "Motherfucking Bass". He made his name with his own brand of heavy hard techno DJ sets. Jimmy Edgar from Detroit has been on the scene for quite a while with house and techno releases on key labels such as Warp, K!7 and Hotflush, but now seems to be on the verge of a major breakthrough. Fans of electronic music will no doubt know him from Jets, a joint project with his good friend Machinedrum. Paula Temple’s star is in the ascendant too. For years now her futuristic techno has been seriously in demand from the likes of Dave Clarke and Claude Young. She recently signed to the quality label R&S. Do you want to come and party with us? Don’t wait too long to get your tickets… See you on the 8th of November and keep on loving! I Love Techno
