Oval Space Music brings you a night of distinctive electronic music with live sets from respected German electronic composers Kollektiv Turmstrasse and Irish duo White Collar Boy with vocals from Gemma Dunleavy.
Our resident jozif will be DJ'ing throughout the evening, joined these two spellbinding live acts to kick off our regular Thursday night live series.
KOLLEKTIV TURMSTRASSE
It was the 2010 ‘Rebellion De Traume’ album on Connaisseur Recordings that first pricked our ears to German live duo Kollektiv Turmstrasse. Somewhat of an obsession for the whole year it was released (and beyond), it’s ever impressive collection of cinematic textures and moody beat structures is without a doubt, one of our favourite albums of the last few years. Seeing them live in London in 2011 only propelled Christian Hilscher and Nico Plagemann as stand out live artists and we are honored to have them open our 2014 Oval Space Music Live sessions. London has not seen Dynamic’s Kollektiv Turmstrasse make a live appearance since that unforgettable night for our friends Bedlam London and with an album of such timeless quality, we are really looking forward to this rare show to open the live season.
GENIUS OF TIME
Swedish masters of analogue house, Genius of Time, will join us to perform one of their legendary live sets. The live show fuses old school and new-school house, with the analogue sounds of beloved machines and the endless possibilities of modern technologies. Compiled of two of Aniara Recordings founders Alexander Berg and Nils Krogh, their many intimate parties and open airs in the Swedish summer nights have become the foundation and inspiration for a small string of highly sought after 12”s which have proved that their small hometown of Gothenburg can compete with the best of them! With a dedication to exploring the traditional, the unexpected, the fast, the slow, the nostalgic and the contemporary, coupled with live instrumentation and some serious hardware, get ready for a highly pleasurable sonic and visual spectacle.
WHITE COLLAR BOY
Supporting Kollektiv Turmstrasse we welcome two-piece electronic group White Collar Boy; Gavin White and Mark Cummins featuring the haunting vocals of Gemma Dunleavey. Their recent single SUUU, on the reputable Irish label Body Tonic, garnered huge praise amongst the industry and music press including 'single of the month' in November’s issue of DJ Mag. Having supported Mount Kimbie on the Dublin leg of the phenomenal 'Made To Stray' album tour and a live performance at world-renowned Berlin venue, Panorama Bar, this Dublin duo are certainly an act to keep your eyes on in 2014.
