The 15th anniversary edition of CTM – Festival for Adventurous Music and Arts – will take place January 24 – February 2, 2014 in different venues across Berlin, including the HAU – Hebbel am Ufer, Berghain, Stattbad, and the Kunstraum Kreuzberg/Bethanien.
Under the title Dis Continuity, CTM 2014 zooms in on a range of musical pioneers whose curiosity and pursuit of new, idiosyncratic forms have kept them off the radar, even while their explorations and discoveries continue to influence how we create and experience music today. In so doing, the festival aims to encourage dialogue between past experimentation and a rising generation of creative minds. The festival's 15th anniversary is also an occasion to reflect on its own history, and to address the increased desire for historic references felt at the dawn of the post-digital era. The festival’s mix of concerts and club events will once again be supported by an extensive daytime program of talks, workshops, exhibitions and more. As always, CTM will be held parallel to and in collaboration with transmediale – festival for art and digital culture which takes place at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt.

Owen Roberts Ensemble[UK/DE]
Owen Roberts is a composer and musician holding a degree in Composition from the University of Oxford. Active in the improvisational music scene, Roberts has participated in a range of performances, installations, and artistic collaborations in Berlin and throughout Europe, and has served as director of music programming for Berlin-based Mindpirates e.V. A solo electroacoustic LP and a double live LP with Raz O’hara are scheduled for release in 2014.
Carl Michael von Hausswolff[SE]
CM von Hausswolff is a composer, conceptual artist, and independent curator based in Stockholm and Palma de Mallorca, Spain. Since the end of the 1970s, Hausswolff has worked as a composer using sound recording devices as his main instrument, and as a conceptual visual artist working with performance art, light and sound installations, and photography.
Samuel Kerridge[DE]
Samuel Kerridge is a prime example of the recent resurgence of industrial-influenced, noisy, and deconstructed techno. His productions deftly manipulate the relationship between rhythm and sound design, funneling decimating kick drums, feedback, and unholy degrees of distortion into his own blend of toxic techno.
Porter Ricks[DE]
Porter Ricks is the groundbreaking project of sound artist and ambient composer Thomas Köner and techno producer and mastering engineer at Berlin’s legendary Dubplates & Mastering studio, Andy Mellwig. The pair’s 1996 debut album Biokinetics is widely considered a touchstone of experimental techno.
Hypnobeat[DE]
Hypnobeat is the longstanding project of James Dean Brown (Narcotic Syntax, Perlon). Since its inception in 1983, the project has undergone a number of member and moniker mutations, but in its current form is an improvisational partnership between JDB and Hamburg’s Helena Hauff: 1x TR-707 + 3x TR-808 + 1x TB-303 + an array of effects = provocative percussion.
Felix K[DE]
Berlin native Felix K. designs structural techno for a drum and bass bpm rate. He is closely affiliated with Berlin-based techno collective, Dystopian, and co-captains Hidden Hawaii, a techno label rooted in drum and bass.
