Cobblestone Jazz:
A unique trio, Cobblestone Jazz uses early computers and analog instruments to create pared down sounds that retain the quality of improvisational jazz within the parameters of a minimal, dance-floor aesthetic. Through a real-time exchange of musical form, language, and ideas, Tyger Dhula, Mathew Jonson, and Danuel Tate provide a continual sense of surprise and discovery for their listeners.

HRDvsion:
Hrdvsion’s obsession with morphing sounds and hardware continues to be the main inspiration for his musical explorations. Growing up in a musical home, filled with a harpsichord, guitar, an electric piano and a mob of bush band instruments; brought Nathan Jonson into the world of Hrdvsion. Having these instruments surrounding him helped develop his interest in abusing sound at the age of 8. The remaining formative years included a focused foray into the over edited, deconstructed sounds of influences such as Squarepusher and Aphex Twin. Nathan’s chopped and disjointed sounds would become an interesting contrast in his early performing years to the seamless sounds of his brother, Mathew.
Now 10 years later he has begun fusing Techno with experimental music to create something both dance friendly and adventurous. Tracks such as Oxygen Sway and The Sick Memory EP have begun to forge Hrdvsion’s reputation in the experimental electronic music scene, flowing everywhere from intricately layered composition to dirty cranky house. With releases on Wagon Repair, Itiswhatitis, Subpop, Traum, and Plak, he has received much acclaim, including being charted/played by such artists as Dominik Eulberg, Laurent Garnier, and Mathew Jonson, and with such publications as de:bug, atome and stylus. As he continues to focus on both his studio production and live performance, releases to come on Wagon Repair, and Plak are all in the works for the imminent future. Musical experimentation with a focus on destroying sounds through hardware and software is within Hrdvsion’s blood; and will always be a part of his life.

Longshanks (alais Monolithium):
Longshanks is a local Legend, anyone whose enjoyed Victoria night life in the last 6 years knows the name. Mr.Shanks' vault of music knowledge seems to know no bounds. As a collector, tactician and programmer. This modern and colourful imagination has every tool needed to compliment and/or challenge any dance floor.
Tyger Dhula:
Tyger Dhula is responsible for the loops and sampling side of Cobblestone Jazz, the Vancouver three-piece bringing the spirit of improvisation and jazz to techno. The band, made up of Dhula, Mathew Jonson (bass & drum programming) and Danuel Tate (live keys, vocals), have been particularly busy recently, releasing a string of singles and an album (23 Seconds) in 2007, but they’ve actually been playing together since the late nineties, not only in Cobblestone Jazz but in other Wagon Repair collaborative projects such as The Modern Deep Left Quartet (with The Mole) and Dante & Dhula.
While Jonson and Tate are responsible for the techno and jazz sides of Cobblestone respectively, Dhula’s role is a little more mysterious. With a background as a DJ and a producer, Dhula takes on the programming side of Cobblestone in the studio, while live he’s the man who ties it all together, mixing tracks, feeding samples to Tate and looping sounds and effects for the dancefloor.
