Locals is a monthly night dedicated to the finer strands of house and techno, showcasing local DJ’s and artists of international repute through both their DJ/Live Sets and music releases.
Curated by two avid record collectors and label owners, Daniel Filipovic (Pinksilver Music) and Paul Cooper (Project / Sub Squared), the night will focus on extended DJ sets from guests within the innate confines of Melbourne’s premier project art space and bar, Loop.
The opening party features the deep abilities of two talents – one rising and the other firmly established.
Andy Donnelly, better known as Kloke, has been calling Melbourne home for the last 5 years. In this time, he has released music on both Entrada Recordings and more recently, Granholme Works with the “Circuit Theory” EP.
In 2012 he was invited to participate in the New York edition of the Red Bull Music Academy, culminating with a stellar hybrid bass and techno set at the Bunker club in Brooklyn.
Our second guest needs little introduction. Craig McWhinney is a DJ, producer, live artist & label owner.
With a string of releases on his own label Haul Music, which he co-founded in 2008 with Mike Callander and Christian Vance, his productions are now finding their way onto international labels as well, with remixes and EPs for Electric Deluxe, Steadfast records, Project Squared and Telrae, and with forthcoming releases on Theory Records and Sub Squared.
Drawing upon his wealth of DJ'ing experience and a gift for sound design, he crosses the boundaries of techno and house with precision and intent, creating dancefloor focused music that speaks to both mind and feet.
