Astral People is proud to present WITNESS - a carefully curated tri-annual showcase of the best upcoming and established Australian talent, bolstered by a slew of international up-comers. January 2014 will see the inaugural launch of WITNESS - WITNESS//01, which boasts a 13 strong lineup of electronic musicians & DJ's, taking place on 1 day over 2 stages at Sydney's The Factory Theatre. The event will be curated by Sydney’s own Vic Edirisinghe - Co-founder of Astral People, Plastic World and OutsideIn Festival.
Exploring our passion for left field local and international club music, WITNESS//01 will showcase not only home-grown rising stars in the electronic spectrum but also international artists from around the world that are fast earning their stripes in their home towns and are now seeking to take their talents abroad. In January 2014, WITNESS//01 is proud to host London’s Paleman on his debut Australian tour. Very few producers have had such a remarkable last 18 months as Swamp 81’s Paleman, evolving rapidly from a promising talent into one of the most devastating producers from London in recent times. Heralded as the ‘next big thing’ by underground music heavyweights Skream, Loefah and Boddika, Paleman is an obvious choice for the first installment of WITNESS. He’ll be joined by some of our most exciting musicians and selectors from around the country. The series will be focused on presenting this sort of talent in unique 2-room spaces around Sydney and beyond. We invite you to WITNESS the change with us come the new year.
