Lights Down Low presents Scuba and DJ Hell

  • 2014 is in full swing and Lights Down Low has no desire (or ability?) to slow down and this time we are going wild at Mezzanine bringing 2 of our favorite DJ’s together for one HUMONGOUS show. We cannot wait to party with all of you and these International talents. Plus surprises, new visuals, and wild ass shit you won’t expect! SCUBA Big show alert! Scuba crash lands back into SF to take over Lights Down Low for one of the biggest nights kicking off 2014! The mastermind of the mega influential Hotflush records (Mount Kimbie, Benga, Joy Orbison) Paul Rose has steadily had a hand in everything cool and interesting in dance music. His own productions, NE1BUTU, The Hope, Flash Addict, have all been staples of LDL sets for awhile now and now we get to see what this guy has in his magic bag of tricks. This is a superstar in every sense of the word and we this is going to be an awesome night. From the pirate airwaves in London to his sub:stance party in Berlin the sound is always getting pushed into new and wild territories. With his latest full-length album “Triangulation”, topping charts all over the world, and already being hailed as a masterwork, Scuba’s record bag will be bursting with exclusive dubs of uncompromising caliber. DJ HELL Sleazemore’s hero is here and we cannot believe it. Throughout our DJ lives we have been influenced by Hell and now here he is live and in 3D playing Lights Down Low. A cultural chameleon with an encyclopedic musical knowledge and a bold sense of style, Hell has carved a reputation as the Warhol - or should that be War-hell? - of our generation. When Hell launched his International Deejay Gigolos Empire in 1996, his rebellious creative streak gave the label a punk DIY aesthetic. An open-ended techno imprint with a natural pop sensibility, Gigolo immediately stood out and attracted like-minded artists such as Fischerspooner, Vitalic, Miss Kittin & the Hacker, Tiga, even the Pet Shop Boys, Jeff Mills and Dopplereffekt. In 1985, he was one of the first in Germany to DJ house music, back when Steve ‘Silk' Hurley made the first Chicago house tracks. Later, through Gigolo, he put out lost classics by Chicago house legends Bobby Konders and DJ Pierre. He also re-released what's considered the first Detroit techno song, "Sharevari" by A Number of Names, and rekindled the career of new-wave heroes Tuxedomoon. His amazing past is matched only by the amazing music he still releases today and the wild DJ sets he is still playing all around the world.
