  • Mutual Dreaming presents the 3rd annual PPU VIDEO PARTY! People's Potential Unlimited (PPU) is a very special record label in DC known for discovering and reissuing some of the weirdest and best ultra-rare boogie / funk from the 70s, 80s, 90s++. For this warehouse party, label head Andrew Morgan comes out of secrecy to DJ from his ultra-coveted vinyl collection, joined by LA/NYC's modern funk taste-maestro Tom Noble. We also have two NYC debut live sets: L.I.E.S. freaky hotshot Torn Hawk, and PPU's new signing Benedek, who flies here from LA just for this. Like the last year's video parties, the music will soundtrack a full a wall of analog live video mixed by Luke Wyatt, the freak in question behind Torn Hawk, and creator of the sought-after ‘PPU Video Party‘ DVDs, which are full of bizarre and amazing dance party footage & 'video mulch' / VHS high art freekiness. Steel Drums sets the Bushwick Berghain Disco vibe, but with custom sound like you've never heard it from the powerhouse team at Tsunami Bass who blew our minds on NYE.. come dance. --Andrew Morgan-- The mysterious man behind the Peoples Potential Unlimited imprint.. you may not have heard of him but there are record nerds out there tracking his every move. Known for discovering would-be oddball classics such as Midnight Express' 'Danger Zone', and Estonian funker UKU KUUT who sings erotic ballads with his mom, his label hones in on a perfectly quirky & deep, funky strain of forgotten music. Some of the records he plays are among the only copies in the world- because he found them at thriftstores & private collections in places like Silver Spring, Maryland - who knew it was a hotbed for wannabe Michael Jacksons who missed the mark so good? His sets have always been a highlight of Mutual Dreaming –it’s a pleasure to have him return! http://infinitestatemachine.com/2010/08/01/peoples-potential-unlimited/ http://snd.sc/tcEpC1/ ♥♥♥ http://ppu.bigcartel.com/ --Tom Noble-- To quote my Manchester party brothers in arms, Wet Play: “After smashing out numerous floor melters on CLONE, PPU, FUTURE TIMES and his own ventures WHATCHAWANNADO and SUPERIOR ELEVATION RECORDS (and we ain't talking about turgid, limp dick, half 'n' hour takin' to make re-edits with an extra bass kick and no balls either) over the past few years, he has now firmly planted himself at the top of the underground boogie pyramid.....” live bios coming soon....
