The second lineup for HOLIC at Corsica Studios sees the Chicago high-priestess of Electronica, KATE SIMKO, paired with exporter of fine Parisian House DJEBALI.
Having spent the last couple of years at the Royal College of Music, Kate's been developing numerous creative offshoots in addition to the classy melodic deep house she's become famed for. In particular, her sold out fusion of classical instrumentation and electronica – the London Electronic Orchestra – was one of London's musical highlights this year. Her DJ sets have therefore taken a bit of a backseat. As such, it is with great pleasure that we can provide this forward-thinking and inspiring woman a platform to show where she is at musically, but perhaps more importantly, give her an opportunity to prove that she still knows how to lay it down on the dancefloor.
Djebali on the other hand hasn't been active for as long but in a short period is cementing his rep and quickly signing it wet. Spending the latter half of the noughties DJing mainly in his native Paris, he was picked up for his music in 2008 by the great Jay Haze. Since 2011 he has been releasing music primarily through his own Djebali imprints, and has been collaborating with Point G, Inland Knights, Jozif, Hreno & the Mole to name a few. He has a penchant for organic underwater vibes and frenetic drumming that shape and mould the pelvic region, with tough low-slung beats that have become the bread and beurre of French house music.
Rounding out Room 1 is of course HOLIC head Tomoki Tamura, plus long-time resident EightBitRate. And lastly we're excited to introduce Japanese new kid on the block TEMMA-Teje, surely destined for big things with music out on Cocoon, Release Sustain and Snows on Conifer belying his young years.
