Cubism with Jon Rundell, Saytek (Live) and Residents

  • Cubism Records return to the scene of the crime for the label’s first session of 2014 this time back at The Source in Maidstone, Kent. The Source was instrumental in the development of Cubism when the label held a two year bi-monthly residency at the legendary venue between 2010 and 2012 welcoming the likes of Yousef, Terry Francis, Nathan Coles, Alex Tepper, Christian Burkhardt, Raymundo Rodriguez, Audiojack and many more to throw down with residents Saytek, Mark Gwinnett, Deanoloco and Mike Healey. After another incendiary showcase at fabric in December the label returns to The Source welcoming the ‘powerhouse’ behind Carl Cox’s Intec label, Jon Rundell. For Jon Rundell 2013 was one of the busiest years of his career. Working harder than ever as international DJ, acclaimed producer, in-demand remixer and record label boss, the last 12 months have seen him go full throttle and reap the rewards of what relentless hard work, determination and skillfulness can bring. Whilst continuing to deliver a whole host of stellar productions, Jon kicked off 2013 teaming up with Carl Cox to mix ‘Pure Intec 2’, the long-awaited follow up to 2004’s ‘Pure Intec.’ Critically acclaimed and capturing the advanced Techno sound that the imprint boasts today, Jon mixed the second part of the compilation, showcasing brand new tracks from some of Intec’s finest DJs. In 2013 Jon managed to ignite dancefloors across continents, including sets at; Electric Daisy Carnival (New York and Las Vegas, US), Inox Festival (Toulouse, France), IMS (Ibiza), Egg (London, UK), Babilonia (Mexico), Ultra (Croatia), Le Feria (Santiago, Chile), Sala Brown (Rosario, Argentina), Tomorrowland (Boom, Belgium), Vision (Tokyo, Japan), Global Gathering (UK), Electrobeach (Spain), Aquasella Festival (Spain) and Space (Ibiza) as part of Carl Cox's legendary Revolution parties. With Jon still buzzing from an amazing 2013, he’s determined to continue delivering for his fans and wants 2014 to be an even bigger year. He’s already lining up some big shows for the New Year, including a debut appearance at Mexico’s prestigious BPM Festival in January. Then there are more dates in the diary for Italy, Norway and Spain, plus returning to fabric with his Intec night in the Spring alongside Carl Cox. Maidstone ravers really are in for a treat. Not least because Jon will be headlining the main room alongside Cubism’s talisman, Saytek with another huge live show which he will be especially writing and designing for the night. Saytek is flying right now and in constant demand across Europe from Berlin back to London but Cubism at The Source is always a special one for him. “Back when I joined the label in 2013, this was Mark’s base of operations and the welcome I always have from the Maidstone crowd at The Source and also at our showcases at fabric is always amazing!”. Supporting Jon and Saytek are firstly DJ Mag’s very own Adam Saville who brings his unique blend of house and techno to the party. Adam has carved out a great career in journalism at DJ Mag as music editor supporting the very best artists in the scene aswell as playing alongside them. The same can be said of Cubism’s label boss Mark Gwinnett who completes the line up in the main room. Mark’s work with Cubism and Saytek is well documented over the last few years. He hit a home run last year with creating the Clubz section at the biggest newspaper in the UK which caters for last year putting into print features written by the likes of Kevin Saunderson, Richie Hawtin, Eats Everything, Waifs & Strays, Carl Cox, Loco Dice, Sasha, Martin Buttrich, Nic Fanciulli and many more on a weekly basis for millions to read. Taking care of courtyard duties we have Cubism resident Deanoloco with his LOCO brand. Born in the courtyard of The Source alongside CUBISM, Deanoloco has proved himself time and again to be one of the very best techno DJs in Kent and his passion has led him alongside the LOCO family to create some of the most off the wall after hours parties Maidstone saw last year which culminated in Magda rocking The Source on New Years Day. Joining Deano will be Cubism resident Mike Healey and someone that has really impressed us over the last year with his Bunkerbound label, local DJ and producer Paul Neary. The Cubism Records label showcase at fabric at the end of 2013 was another incredible night that saw Saytek, Mark Gwinnett, Deanoloco and Mike Healey take the roof off at the UK’s finest alongside Adam Beyer and Alan Fitzpatrick in what has become an annual pilgrimage for the label and in the process releasing the Cubism 5IVE album. This party at The Source with Jon Rundell in tow will be huge back on home turf for the first of two parties in Maidstone this year. Anyone that loves the true sound of raw underground house and techno would be a fool to miss this! “When the music is flowing in Room Three it can often feel like its assuming mysterious sonic shapes unlike anything you have experienced before. One of our most vivid memories of this happening at fabric is when UK label, Cubism come to town and we lose ourselves in the motion of their brand of techno blended house music to the point that it's almost as though the cozy dance floor environment we thought we once knew changes completely.” Fabric, London 2013
