Filth 7th Birthday - Steampunk party @ Mint Club
Now the dust has settled from the sell-out, Filth Boxing day all-nighter, where they returned to their spiritual home, The Mint Club with firm favourites, The Martinez Brothers, it makes sense that the much loved northern night is firmly back for a series of special events in 2014. The first party of the year just so happens to be their 7th Birthday, where they return to Mint with a Steampunk theme & a special extended set from one of the most respected DJ’s around, Damian Lazarus.
Filth definitely came back with a bang! Judging by the reception on Boxing Day it seems the people of Leeds have been waiting for Filth’s return for a while. Known for its carnival-like atmosphere, cutting edge music & crazy party themes, the 7th Birthday will be another melting pot of madness as they go for a post-apocalyptic, victorian steampunk theme.
As for the headliner, Crosstown Rebels boss Damian Lazarus is someone Filth have admired for years. The crew have all witnessed Damian’s famed sunrise sets at Burning Man each year, and they are nothing short of legendary. Over the course of recent times his imprint has continued to unearth brand new talent from around the world including Art Department, Maceo Plex, Infinity Ink and more, releasing an incredible number of full length album from such artists, most of which end up topping plenty of polls come the years end. All under the knowing stewardship of freaky electronic champion Lazarus. To see him play in such a small and intimate club as Mint, with its mind bending LED light panel and finely tuned Funktion One soundsystem, is sure to be a special journey indeed.
Support comes from local favourite, and Basics resident, Denney. Hailing from the North East of England, this fresh talent cut his teeth at the best of northern club nights, before spreading his wings - and his love for music and life - literally across the world.
Filth residents Danny Savage, Alcatraz Harry and King Tut & The Wookie will all be back at the helm doing what they do best. So forget the candle-lit meal for dos, get your STEAMPUNK on and get twisted!!
