Electronic music and video technology cemented the basis of 2014 Sound Department winter format. We want to listen to artists in their being eclectic, setting them free from the rules of the thousand people-dancefloor, to let them feel free to express their art at best at these latitudes. We just wanna tell you a story mingled in the night of a club in which there is just one storyteller : the artist. We’re not inviting you to a club or to a night in a discotheque, but we’re inviting you to be a part of our tale, to write it with us. The moral of this tale will not only be impressed in our minds, but all the feelings of the 200 lucky audience will be relived in high definition on our own hard drives.
SHIFTED bio:
2011 has seen Shifted rise swiftly from the murky shadows of UK Techno. Little is known of who the cryptic producer is, but rest assured of his credentials. 'Drained', his first of two EPs on Luke Slater's esteemed Mote Evolver imprint instantly grabbed the attention of the Techno fraternity. A heavy, muscular and stripped sound was born from what was to become one of 2011's most exciting Techno artists. Releases under the pseudonyms Pacific Blue and Relay soon followed, continuing along Shifted's Techno lines, but built on a deeper, more understated sound.Appearing on a limited blue vinyl, 'Industry Part 1 & 2' was the opening release on the Pacific Blue 12” series, with remixes following from Sandwell District artists Rrose and Silent Servant at the tail of 2011. Shifted's growing demand as a remixer himself led to reworks of UK Techno legends The Black Dog as well as peers Sigha and Cio D'Or amongst others. Several 'secret' white labels were also released with which no name was attributed.
2011 also saw the launch of his Avian imprint. Confirming the calibre of Shifted's productions, the début (vinyl only) release 'AVN #001' struck a chord with its thudding drums and deep, pulsating stabs. The EP received weekly plays from Techno's top players and became a record that didn’t leave the bag. The equally illusive London-based producer, Ventress, laid down the follow-up release cementing the Avian label as 'one to watch' in 2012. With these productions and remixes gaining warranted attention on the dancefloor, Shifted's gig diary matured accordingly, DJing at some of the world's best clubs including the fabled Berghain (Berlin) and Fabric (London).
Looking forward, Shifted continues on from his second Mote Evolver 12”, 'Control', with his début album being released on the label in March 2012. Shifted has found home from home on the illustrious label and fits perfectly into its tough, hypnotic and often experimental style of Techno. On top of the Mote Evolver LP, 2012 will bring another solo production under the Pacific Blue alias, a remix for Planetary Assault Systems and undisclosed activity on his own Avian imprint.

SANTORINI bio:
Andrea Santoro was born in 1983 in Lecce. His natural bent for music started in 1996 when he began djing house music with friends and suddenly they began to call him 'Santorini'..
During these years Andrea discovered the various flavours of club music, from techno to deep house that he suddenly loved. He felt attraction for the nightlife and so he started playing as dj in several clubs in his area. In the following years he approached to the production of music releasing dancefloor oriented house and techno tracks.
During these years Santorini grew artistically and tecnically, mixing down in his tracks old deep house influences with new techno sounds. In 2007 he started the label “Recycle Records” with Guido Nemola and Luigi Scrimitore and in 2011 Out-ER with Simone Gatto and other friends. After spending several years producing in studio and playing in clubs, Santorini released on many important record labels like Upon You, Frozen Border, Krill, Little Helpers, Alphahouse, Luna Records.. His tracks have been played by some important djs like: Luciano, Karotte, Richie Hawtin, Afrilounge, Marco Carola, Audiofly, Laurent Garnier, Marco Resmann, Dan Curtin Jeff Samuel, Lauhaus, C Rock, Hot Chip, Steve Bug, Solomun, Barem, Kiki, Tom Clark, Florian Meindl, Karotte, Anthony Collins, 3 Channels, Someone Else, Italoboyz, Miss Jools, Mark Henning, Benno Blome, Bloody Mary...He played around Europe during these years and he bringed his sets in many clubs like for example: Watergate (Berlin), Weekend (Berlin), Bar 25 (Berlin), Kater Holzig (Berlin), MAD (Lausanne), Arena Club (Berlin), D! Club (Lausanne), La Ruche (Lausanne), MELT! (London), KDR (Berlin), Gasoline (Milano)..
During his performances he can play as dj or as Live Act proposing his own productions with Ableton Live.

Musica elettronica e tecnologia video cementificano i pilastri del format invernale 2014 del Sound Department. Abbiamo voglia di ascoltare artisti nella loro ecletticità, svincolandoli dalle regole di un dancefloor da migliaia di persone lasciando loro la maggior libertà artistica possibile a queste latitudini. Abbiamo voglia di raccontarvi una storia che si mescola nel buio di una notte in un club dove il narratore è solo uno, l'artista. Oggi non vi invitiamo in un club o ad una serata in discoteca, ma vi invitiamo a fare parte della nostra favola, da scrivere insieme. La morale di questa favola non rimarrà impressa solo nelle nostre menti, ma tutte le sensazioni che i 200 fortunati hanno provato durante il racconto potranno essere rivissute fotogramma dopo fotogramma negli hard disk di tutti noi in HD...
