This Saturday February 1st Otologic present Paul Murphy aka Mudd to their Inside Out party.
The man behind legendary record labels Claremont 56 and Leng, Paul has been DJing for over 20 years and is a legend of the modern day Balearic scene.
Paul’s first production work as Akwaaba, featured in Francois Kevorkian’s ‘Essential Mix’ compilation and Ron Trent’s ‘Musical Reflections’ album, with ‘Just Pilau’ becoming a instant classic of the 90’s, and lead to 2 albums and remixes for Tummy Touch, Strut, Bear Funk and Session Records.
After Akwaaba’s split in 2003, Paul has been releasing music under Mudd, featuring an album on Rong Music titled ‘Claremont 56’, which lead to Paul starting his record label of the same name. Since then, Paul has release a series of 12”’s under Mudd, as well as Mudd & Pollard, Bison with Krautrock legend Holger Czukay and Liquid Liquid member Sal P, and Paqua with Groove Armada’s Patrick Dawes and Bing Ji Ling.
Since it’s inception in 2007, Claremont 56 has gained recognition as a constant purveyor of high quality Balearic and Disco inspired releases, featuring producers such as Idjut Boys, Lexx and the legendary Holger Czukay of Can. Claremont 56 also releases the highly successful “Originals” compilation, featuring selections from DJ’s such as Alex from Tokyo, Lexx, DJ Spun, Phil Mison, Mark Seven and Felix Dickinson.
In 2009, Claremont 56's sub label Leng was formed, and has since featured releases from Psychemagik, 40 Thieves, Tiago, and Mushrooms Project.
