Electronic music and video technology cemented the basis of 2014 Sound Department winter format. We want to listen to artists in their being eclectic, setting them free from the rules of the thousand people-dancefloor, to let them feel free to express their art at best at these latitudes. We just wanna tell you a story mingled in the night of a club in which there is just one storyteller : the artist. We’re not inviting you to a club or to a night in a discotheque, but we’re inviting you to be a part of our tale, to write it with us. The moral of this tale will not only be impressed in our minds, but all the feelings of the 200 lucky audience will be relived in high definition on our own hard drives.
JUS -ED bio:
A voyage into the world of DJ Jus-Ed reveals an adventurous, energetic and spiritual style of playing quality house music. Since reappearing on the scene in 2001 after a 15 year retirement, DJ Jus-Ed's underground smooth sets have captured & educated audiences all the way from his home base in Bridgeport Connecticut to Europe, Asia, Eastern Europe, Middle East. While holding it down with a weekly Internet radio show on myhouseyourhouse.net every Wednesday at 7-9pm EST.
DJ Jus-Ed's exposure to a wide range of experiences shapes his unique musical viewpoint. At the tender age of six he was backing up his grandparents in a Jazz duo, keeping time with brushes on a cardboard box. This was just the beginning of his music education... He later attended the University of Bridgeport at age 10 to study percussion instruments. Other musical influences included James Brown, Buddy Rich, Chicago, 3 Dog Night, Luther Vandross, Prince, Cameo, O Jays, Bar Kay's and more…
In the early eighties faithfully tuning in to WBLS with Frankie Crocker, Jus-Ed embarked on his DJ career, playing the music of the times; Freestyle, House, Funk and R&B. In 1985 DJ Jus-Ed went into retirement because of his lifestyle.
Upon his return in 2001, DJ Jus-Ed created the "Underground Quality " as a party brand on the East Coast. In 2004 DJ Jus-Ed started the now worldwide respected record label “Underground Quality”. Since 2004 DJ Jus-Ed has released 55 vinyl releases, 4 LPs and over 15 remixes for other labels. Jus-Ed has released records by Fred P, Nina Kraviz, Levon Vincent, DJ Qu, Juju & Jordash, Lady Blacktronica, Juniper, Smallpeople and many more on UQ! DJ JUS-ED has a residency at OUTPUT club in Brooklyn and Panorama Bar in Berlin.

BIAGO LANEVE bio:
Biagio was born in Taranto in 1988, after many years on the dancefloor, he decided to collect vynils and to engage with the art of djiing.
Admirer of the house and Detroit techno sound, in 2006 he reached Clorosynthesis consolle and Guendalina's terrace, where he had the opportunity to listen to many international artists and to improve his musical technique. Winter of 2012 was the turning point because Biagio became resident dj of Sound Department, a new project born in his hometown.
Here Biagio increased his range of experiences and emotions, taking part to high artistic quality parties with international guests like Levon Vincent, Ame, Tevo Howard and others. Biagio released his first work as a producer, in collaboration with his friend Andrea Ferlin on What Now Becomes, a sub-label Sleep Is Commercial.

COSIMO COLELLA bio:
Cosimo Colella was born in Taranto in 1989, in a family and in a cultural context that weren't very receptive musicaly and artisticaly.
Although a short study of piano, at the age of 12-13 the music wasn't a part of his life. Then he knew the hip-hop which was maybe his real interest.
Moving from hip-hop to house music, made in USA, Cosimo Colella started his first parties on the consolle. Cosimo Colella enlarged his musical horizons and he got in contact with european sounds that were perfectly combined with his USA background. Since 2008 he started to use sequencers and he started his first release with the Floska project, that during last five years has given very big satisfactions. So he released other stuff on labels such as Viva Music, Turquoise Blue, Elevation, Phobic, Tzinah, Joyfull Family and of course Apulia, a label from Taranto.
Collaborations are many, such as remixes from and by Adultnapper, Sasse, Nico Purman, Nima Gorji, Matthew Burton, Echonomist, Gwen Maze, Horatio, Latecomer and many others. The project started to be known and big names like Loco Dice, Maya Jane Coles, Steve Lawler, Tania Vulcano, TINI, Robert Dietz, Thughfucker, Nic Fanciulli, Jef K, Varoslav started to support it and to regularly play these guys from Puglia's productions.
Meanwhile Cosimo moved to Milan, where he played around the city and then he came back to Taranto in order to give a contribution to a underground trend now in crisis.
He took part in a new and big movement, where Sound Department came out from, in Taranto. Here Cosimo became resident dj.
The keyword of his music is eclecticism. At the moment Cosimo Colella is working on a solo production project and on an album with Extrema Ratio band, being a band member and producer.

Abbiamo voglia di ascoltare artisti nella loro ecletticità, svincolandoli dalle regole di un dancefloor da migliaia di persone lasciando loro la maggior libertà artistica possibile a queste latitudini. Abbiamo voglia di raccontarvi una storia che si mescola nel buio di una notte in un club dove il narratore è solo uno, l'artista. Oggi non vi invitiamo in un club o ad una serata in discoteca, ma vi invitiamo a fare parte della nostra favola, da scrivere insieme. La morale di questa favola non rimarrà impressa solo nelle nostre menti, ma tutte le sensazioni che i 200 fortunati hanno provato durante il racconto potranno essere rivissute fotogramma dopo fotogramma negli hard disk di tutti noi in HD...

Un viaggio nel mondo di Jus-Ed rivela uno stile avventuroso, energetico e spirituale di suonare house music di qualità. Dall'apparizione sulla scena nel 2001 dopo 15 anni di ritiro, i raffinati underground sets di Jus-Ed hanno catturato ed educato il pubblico lungo tutta la sua strada dalla sua base di partenza in Bridgeport in Connecticut all'Europa, Asia, Europa Orientale e medio Oriente.
Intanto tenendolo impegnato con uno show settimanale ogni mercoledì dalle 7pm alle 19pm su un internet radio myhouseyourhouse.net .
L'esposizione di Jus-Ed ad un vasto range di esperienze forma il suo unico punto di vista musicale.
Alla tenera età di 6 anni Edward accompagnava i suoi nonni in un duo jazz, tenendo il tempo con delle spazzole su di una scatola di cartone. Questo fu l'inizio della sua formazione musicale.
Egli più tardi all'età di 10 anni frequentò l'università di Bridgeport per studiare strumenti a percussioni. Altre influenze musicali includevano James Brown, Buddy Rich, Chicago, 3 Dog Night, Luther Vandross, Prince, Cameo, O Jays, Bar Kay's e molti altri.
Nei primi anni 80 sintonizzandosi fedelmente a WBLS con Frankie Crocker, Jus-Ed si imbarca nella sua carriera da dj, suonando la musica contemporanea, freestyle, house, funk e R'n'b.
Nel 1985 Jus-Ed si ritira a causa del suo stile di vita.
Per il suo ritorno nel 2001 Jus-Ed ha creato Underground Quality, come nome del suo party sulla East coast. Biagio nasce a Taranto nel 1988, dopo anni di militanza sui dancefloor, decide di collezionare vinili e impegnarsi nell’arte del djiing. Estimatore del suono house e detroit techno, dal 2006 approda alla consolle del Clorosynthesis e della terrazza del Guendalina, dove ha la fortuna di ascoltare innumerevoli artisti internazionali e affinare la propria tecnica. Nel inverno del 2012 per Biagio arriva la svolta, viene scelto come resident dal Sound Department, un nuovo progetto nato nella sua città. Qui Biagio riesce ad accrescere ulteriormente il proprio bagaglio di esperienze ed emozioni, prendendo parte a party di altissima qualità artistica al fianco di guest internazionali del calibro di Levon Vincent, Ame, Tevo Howard e molti altri. Biagio rilascia nel 2013 il suo primo lavoro come produttore, collaborando con l’amico Andrea Ferlin per l’etichetta What Now Becomes, una sub-label della ottima Sleep is Commercial.

Tarantino,classe ’89,nasce in una famiglia e in un contesto sociale musicalmente e artisticamente non molto recettivi. Nonostante una breve infarinatura di pianoforte,fino ai 12-13 anni la musica non fa parte della sua vita. Poi conosce l’hip hop,che forse è la vera scinitilla. E dall’hip hop anche l’house music,quella made in usa e le prime feste dietro i piatti. Con gli anni gli orizzonti si allargano, viene in contatto con suoni prettamente europei che fondono con il suo background a stelle e strisce. Dal 2008 si cimenta anche dietro i sequencer, le prime release con il progetto Floska, che in 5 anni regala grandissime soddisfazioni, e cosi arrivano release su label come viva music, turquoise blue, elevation, phobic, tzinah,joyfull family e ovviamente la tarantina apulia,dove ormai i floska sono di casa. Le collaborazioni sono tante, arrivano remix per e da parte di artisti come adultnapper, sasse, nico purman,nima gorji,matthew burton, echonomist, gwen maze, horatio, latecomer e tanti altri. In giro ci si accorge di questo progetto e i big iniziano a supportare e cosi gente come loco dice, maya jane coles,steve lawler, tania vulcano, tINI,robert dietz, thughfucker, nic fanciulli,jef k,varoslav e tantissimi altri big suona regolarmente le produzioni di questi giovani pugliesi. Nel frattempo Cosimo si è trasferito a milano,dove ha suonato un po’ in giro ed è tornato a taranto,determinato a dare un contributo ad movimento underground in evidente crisi. ricomincia dapprima a spingere situazioni con gli amici di sempre e poi si unisce ad un nuovo movimento di dimensioni sicuramente più grandi,dal quale si svilupperà il soundepartment,finalmente il primo club a taranto,nel quale diviene resident. La parola chiave nella sua musica è eccletismo. Attualmente ha in cantiere un progetto di produzione solista e un album con la band extrema ratio,di cui è membro e producer.
