  • Acclaimed globe-trotting club-night and music development organisation, CDR (Create, Define, Release) launches in Melbourne, 2014. BRING YOUR TRACKS/ WORKS-IN-PROGRESS. The sessions are about sharing new, unreleased music and works in progress, whether artists are signed, unsigned, world-famous or, as yet, undiscovered. COME TOGETHER. CDR has been instrumental in developing careers; SBTRKT, Maya Jane Coles and Eglo Records among others. The competition Dimensions Festival ran in conjunction with CDR (2013) uncovered an array of new artists and due to its success will return in 2014. CDR has run for the past 10 years at London’s Plastic People, under the leadership of founder Tony Nwachukwu and also runs regularly in Berlin, Sydney and occasionally in Amsterdam. LEARN. CDR is a not-for-profit organisation. The concept itself is simple; sessions are FREE OF CHARGE and allow producers to receive the right combination of constructive criticism and support from their peers, industry experts and producers they value. CDR's Melbourne debut will include mastering expert, Jack the Bear will sharing his audio insights and lead a mastering Q&A. Berlin’s masked techno mystery, Redshape, will also be heading a sound session, ahead of his Redsqr* live performance. HOW? Music makers can submit in person with a CD or USB, to be aired on the club soundsystem during a section of the night known as “Open CDR”. Those living in regional areas can also participate by submitting their sonic works in progress online. Songs can be uploaded in advance at http://bit.ly/cdr-dropbox-aus. Tracks must be uploaded as WAV or AIFF files with the name of the artist, the track title and email address as the filename. LONDON / BERLIN / SYDNEY / MELBOURNE / The brilliance of the global concept is that content is shared around the world, with video footage, interviews, tracks and photography from all countries featured on the CDR Projects website. Innovative and inspiring music played at the sessions is also shared, with a selection from CDR Australia travelling to the UK, Germany and vice versa. One minute a producer might be working away in their bedroom in Brunswick and the next minute their track is being played at Plastic People, while their interview is published alongside someone to the tune of Henrik Schwarz... *for Redshape club show —visit www.facebook.com/redsqrevents e: [email protected] e: [email protected]
