  • Redlight is set to appear at RoXX on the 29th March 2014, alongside long-time collaborator Dread MC, and with support from Klose One, BITR8 and Library UK. This event will mark the revival of RoXX’s HEAVY.DJ club night, a brand that has seen the likes of Disclosure, Rudimental, and Rustie headline shows since its launch in 2012. Redlight inhabits a world only a select few are allowed to even approach. Chart success and musical integrity are sometimes uneasy bedfellows, but the Bristol-raised and London-based producer is as at home in the top ten as he is playing out to the ravers at 3am. Cutting his teeth in the d&b world as DJ Clipz, a new sound needed a new moniker and so Redlight was born. Success was not long in coming and, championed by Annie Mac, he soon established himself at the absolute forefront of UK bass music, and today is topping bills all over the shop. He is also the brains behind Lobster Boy Records. His sound isn’t easy to classify; it’s easiest to just say that “it sounds like Redlight”. See the man himself talk about his influences, his background and his music here. Redlight is set to release new tune “36″ on the 10th March, stream it below. Gloucester based Dread MC first made a name for himself in the both drum & bass and dubstep circles, regularly working alongside DJ Die, Skream, Benga, Redlight, Pinch and Kutz at their own request, and performing at the UKs top club nights including Fabric, Detonate, and Bedlam. Dread has also put his lyrical talents on wax, working across tempos with the likes of Distance, Redlight, Headhunter, Jaydan and Gatekeeper. Dread is Redlight’s MC of choice and will be appearing alongside him at this gig. Over 14 years from acquiring his first decks Klose One has developed a unique style of mixing with flawless selection, timing and mind boggling mixes. Expect to hear deep 4/4 House and Garage vibes with hints of anything from Grime and Dubstep through to Soca and Bashment. Classic bits of dance music history mixed with cutting edge dubplates all dished out with amazing energy and effortless mixing. Currently working with exciting new club night Staunch and record label School as well as being able to name scene pioneers such as Loefah and Zed Bias amongst his fans, Klose One is a name on the tip of a lot of peoples tongues. Also lined up are BITR8 (with Connec MC) and Library UK. Words by Adam Fuller via www.sotonight.net
