Listed presents Play in Miami with Konrad Black, Bill Patrick, Three & Atish

  • PLAY is a party series based on the very simply idea that just because you're supposedly an adult now doesn't mean you can't have fun like you're still a kid. Although focussed on reviving the spirit of recess, PLAY doesn't mess around when it comes to the music. On the first Saturday of every month, PLAY takes over San Francisco's legendary EndUp with world-class musical talent and over the past year alone, the playground has hosted the likes of Francois K, Dub Tribe Soundsystem, Dan Bell, Patrice Baumel, Joel Mull, Airl Brikha, Mike Huckaby and Francis Harris alongside many more. PLAY's Showcase at BPM 2014 was given an honourable mention in the list of best events by RA and now we're ready to bring that same playground vibe to the sunny beaches of Miami. Join us for an intimate night of PLAY at SOBE with some very special guests: Konrad Black Bill Patrick Three atish There is a very limited capacity for this event. Pre- sale tickets are encouraged as there may not be any tickets available at the door. ------------- ARTISTS ------------- KONRAD BLACK Time has accelerated ten-fold for Konrad over years since the dark, shadowy tones of "Draconia" & "Medusa Smile" enveloped dancefloors around the Globe, christening his influencial Wagon Repair label in style as well as establishing him as a highly innovative producer and much sought after remixer (just check out his work for Tiga, Snax, Audion and Martini Brös if further proof is required). His relocation to Berlin 5 years ago also gave him the opportunity to express himself more regularly as a DJ, resulting in a fast expanding reputation for sending crowds into a frenzy wherever the call of duty takes him. Konrad knows it’s about living and breathing the music, it’s not just a question of turning up, spinning a few tunes and then disappearing back into the night, it’s about getting to know the people, understanding what makes the club tick and always delivering a night of memorable tracks and seamless transgressions. He quickly found himself holding down one of the much coveted residencies at the Legendary Panorama Bar as well as regular spots at dance musics epicenters; Fabric in London, Rex in Paris, Tenax in Florence, Privilege in Ibiza to name a few… After 5 years of a hectic touring schedule, Konrad relocated to Los Angeles and teamed up with fellow producer Martin Buttrich to record a yet unreleased album. For Konrad the aim was to remove himself from the day to day influence of the dance scene in Berlin and "clear the sonic palette" by relocating to a place whose palette couldn't be further from that of techno's mecca of Berlin. "We wanted to be as far from the scene's influence as we could be; Away from any outside musical influence. Berlin is full of musicians of the electronic variety so we decided to do the album in L.A. in the winter time…and I'm happy we did! "It was nice to be back in that west coast laid back way of life…one that I actually missed…which I never thought that I would. "One that couldn't be further literally and figuratively from the 24/7 Techno of Berlin." In hindsight, Vancouver’s laid back way of life was the perfect environment to patiently prepare for the whirlwind his life has now become. Free from the restraining influences of established scenes and trends, Konrad was able to develop his own individual take on dance music under the guidance of Patti Schmidt’s Brave New Waves late night radio show. Digging through the junk bins in Vancouver’s coolest record stores - Basics & Odyssey Imports - also unearthed hidden gems from artists like Tikiman and Maurizio, along with early Klang and Perlon releases that had been shamefully overlooked by the uninitiated. Although his initial instincts had led him in a Drum and Bass direction, it wasn’t long before he began transplanting his ideas into a 4/4 context. Hooking up with Swayzak in 1998 had a large part to do with this and led to a string of releases on 240 Volts including the Busting Down The Door With A Shotgun EP and the inspired Swayzak / Headgear collaboration on In The Car Crash in 2002. During this period Konrad also relocated to London, producing both Drum and Bass for Ed Rush and Optical’s Virus Recordings, and Techno (together with March 21st) as Headgear including a remix of In A State for James Lavelle’s U.N.K.L.E. project. On returning home, Konrad finally met up with fellow Vancouverite Mathew Jonson who was already having massive success producing on the much lauded It Is What It Is label. Together with Graham Boothby and Jesse Fisk they founded Wagon Repair, basically “to do whatever the hell we wanted to do’’ and in a relatively short space of time it’s developed into one of the most respected labels around. Konrad’s own approach to music basically sums up their original mandate – “It’s important to let music mature and resonate. It’s important to know who you are and to embrace the things that drive you forward even if they seem strange to others’’. ...like dreaming darkly on a sunny day. There’s certainly a Byronesque quality to Black, a perpetual struggle between external light and inner darkness that unearths moments of beauty in the darkest corners of our collective consciousness. But fortune seems to favour the brave and it’s with this firmly in mind that he leads the crowd through the night towards another Berlin sunrise. soundcloud.com/konrad_black residentadvisor.net/dj/konradblack facebook.com/Konrad-Black-Official/117840781641762 ----------- BILL PATRICK In America, specifically NYC, Bill Patrick is a man of many accolades... Since his days as a DJ in legendary clubs such as The Limelight, Vinyl & Arc, he has charmed our hearts and moved our bodies. Not to mention being co-founder of the famed Robots parties and amusing us weekly as Robot Radio's alluring and witty host. Within the world of electronic music everyone has a tale about our friend Bill Patrick. Some funny, some sad, some tragic, most shady, but at the end of each story or any encounter with this demi god you're left wanting more. In 2008, this mythical creature, who by chance was reborn a man, relocated to Berlin. Why? Few know. Some say it was in search of gold, some suggest it was out of self loathing, those in his inner circle say it was to be closer to them. He says it was to challenge the European state of mind and how sexually active they, as a people, can become. In any event all legend and lore were left behind. So where has that left this man, this nu-romantic? I'll tell you, striving to be more. It doesn't matter that the only place he now plays are mega festivals like Sunwaves in Romania, or super clubs like DC10, Fabric, and Rex in Paris. Currently holding the A&R title for Guy Gerber's Supplement Facts label and hosting his wildly popular radio show, Private Stock on Pulse Radio, Bill still finds time to update his Facebook fan page and send out extremely well written tweets. But he wants to step out of his box and come to you, to educate the minds of the world with his deep, psychedelic take on contemporary dance music. With the help of his unwavering comrades; Seth Troxler, Guy Gerber, Ryan Crosson and Shaun Reeves, he is destined to thrive! soundcloud.com/billpatrick residentadvisor.net/dj/billpatrick facebook.com/billpatrick.ny/info ----------- THREE Three, label head of Hallucination Limited, has held U.S. residencies at Twilo, Simon’s, BLKmarket Membership, the groundbreaking NYC Robots parties and 10 year Snatch residency in Tampa. He's had his hand in two of the most revered American underground records of the last twenty years producing the Burning Spear remix of Rabbit In The Moon - Out Of Body Experience on legendary San Francisco label Hardkiss Music, as well as co-writing and producing the Multiple Mirrors E.P. as Second Hand Satellites on Hallucination Recordings. Aside from his natural ability on the decks, Three sets himself apart from the rest of the pack by presenting eclectic sounds with an open-minded attitude. From DJ sets to musical output, Three is often named checked as many a DJ’s DJ who's always leaned toward the cutting edge without losing touch with the roots of house and techno. soundcloud.com/three residentadvisor.net/dj/djthree facebook.com/djthree ---------- ATISH San Francisco-based Atish is rising quickly in the international dance music scene. Raised in the Chicago suburbs and schooled in the hard sciences to become a computer engineer, Atish's left-brained technical precision complement his sensitive, emotional approach to sound. His musical career started at age five as a classically trained violinist. Since, he's taken on other instruments including trombone, tuba, guitar, drums, and bass, and over the years, he's played in jazz, rock, and marching bands, even enjoying a stint in hip-hop production. This all led to his true love, the art of DJing. Atish describes his style as expressive melodic deep house: music that sings to the soul while moving the dance floor, communicating the joy of love, the depths of darkness, and intensity of a spiritual dance music journey for himself and anyone listening. Energized by the relationship between DJ and dancefloor, Atish is known for his quirky stage persona, donning costumes, wigs, and even a wedding dress during gigs. But don't let the free wheeling expression fool you - Atish is a disciplined artist with an unhealthy obsession for technical and artistic perfection. Since his first DJ gig at a small bar in 2010, Atish's sound has taken him from the local San Francisco scene to music festivals, clubs, and afterhours gigs across every continent except Antarctica. He's earned the respect of legendary DJs, notably Lee Burridge, who regularly hand picks Atish to tag with and open for him. In just over three years, Atish has gained an avid following of fans and the respect of fellow underground artists around the world. In San Francisco, he's established himself as the resident DJ of 222 Hyde's most successful party, Tutu Tuesday in addition to being a regular at listed Productions' monthly PLAY party at the legendary EndUp. With two tours, including shows in Zurich, Berlin, Tokyo, Cologne, South Africa, Australia and various cities across the US, now firmly under his belt, the quirky Atish shows no signs of slowing down in 2014. soundcloud.com/atish residentadvisor.net/dj/atish facebook.com/atishmusic
