Convergence Feat. Bleep 10

  • To celebrate Bleep’s 10 year anniversary, Village Underground are delighted to confirm Fuck Buttons, Mount Kimbie and Fennesz. Fuck Buttons were conceived in the winter of 2004. Initially the group was born as an outlet for their nihilistic-noise tendencies but quickly, the two realised they could harness the use of noise as a tool to immerse and evoke. They quickly transcended that niche to create their current towering and ambitious sound. Mount Kimbie (Dom Maker and Kai Campos) co-headline with an exclusive sound and image live set in collaboration with artist Igor Zimmerman. Mount Kimbie’s influence stretches far beyond the dance music underground that they emerged from, taking in everything from shoegaze, minimalist, indie, electronica, hip hop, field recordings and more to pioneer a new wave of British music often called ‘post-dubstep’. With their debut release for Warp Records, Cold Spring Fault Less Youth, they made an exciting move towards live instrumentation, while maintaining their distinct left-field electronic sound. Fennesz uses guitar and computer to create shimmering, swirling electronic sound of enormous range and complex musicality. His lush and luminant compositions are anything but sterile computer experiments. They resemble sensitive, telescopic recordings of rainforest insect life or natural atmospheric occurrences, an inherent naturalism permeating each piece. He will be performing until late on the free Barbican ClubStage. -- Convergence: This series of events focuses on pioneers who use technology to innovate: to break the usual beat rather than getting stuck in a loop, presented by Village Underground. Artists already involved with Convergence include Jacques Greene, Koreless, Booka Shade, Fuck Buttons, Mount Kimbie, Fennesz, Ben Frost, 65 Days of Static with many more artists to be added and a series of talks which will take place at both the Barbican and Village Underground. Convergence will commence at venues across East London, including Village Underground, Barbican, St John’s Hackney and ACE Hotel. It will bring together promoters, producers and technologists including Black Atlantic, Noise of Art, Bleep and Mixcloud.
