Electronic music and video technology cemented the basis of 2014 Sound Department winter format. We want to listen to artists in their being eclectic, setting them free from the rules of the thousand people-dancefloor, to let them feel free to express their art at best at these latitudes. We just wanna tell you a story mingled in the night of a club in which there is just one storyteller : the artist. We’re not inviting you to a club or to a night in a discotheque, but we’re inviting you to be a part of our tale, to write it with us. The moral of this tale will not only be impressed in our minds, but all the feelings of the 200 lucky audience will be relived in high definition on our own hard drives.
FUNCTION Bio:
One of techno's true underground heroes, Function, real name Dave Sumner has been DJing and making music for over 15 years. He is a part of the Sandwell District collective.
One of techno's true underground heroes, Function, real name Dave Sumner, has been DJing and making music for over 15 years.
Hailing from New York, he was seduced by techno music when Jeff Mills held a residency (as well as his own first) at the Limelight in the early 90s. Dave started to produce music and from the mid-90s onwards, put out music on Damon Wild's Synewave and his own Infrastructure imprint.
Together with Karl O'Connor aka Regis he worked as Portion Reform, putting out uncompromising music on Downwards and becoming the only non-Birmingham producer to release on the label.
More recently, Dave moved to Berlin and, still working with O'Connor, set up the acclaimed Sandwell District imprint.
SIMONE GATTO bio:
The peaceful sound of the morning breeze and the powerful noise of the sea waves shattering on the rocks in the darkness are sounds that Simone has assimilated from his motherland. This scenario is well mixed in his musical productions, combining it in a delicate balance within his deep and dub house tracks.
Thanks to his philosophical and sociological studies, he enforced his underground beliefs such as tangible expression of the energies that are related to people’s deepest emotions.
All these shapes take place in Simone’s tracks, productions that are the result of contaminations between all the “young” producer’s musical backgrounds. His strongest influences are without any doubt techno and house music, merged with his funky roots.
As a result of this very well mixed knowledge Simone’s dj-sets reflect an infinite multiplicity of musical combinations. The final purpose of his acts is to transforms energies and sensations that the crowd expresses on the dancefloor, into a continuous vibe created mixing vinyls.
Limo Bio:
GIOVANNI LIMONGELLI ALIAS LIMO
was born in Brindisi, Puglia, Italy. Dj from 1997, his passion for the electronic music in all of its facets began already from the early 90’s behind his big friend Tony Storella and in the research of artistic expressions of every kind.
In 2005 he enters in catalogs of labels, collaborating with BUCK (Slick Station), labels as REVOX, REWIND, UOMO and like single on RECYCLE, DISTRICT RAW, PROGCITY DEEP TRAX.
In 2006 returns to live in Brindisi where he takes seriously the project of productions of electronic music, he also begin with GUIDO NEMOLA a production project under the name of COFFEE POT and with Cristian Pugliese aka KRISS under the name ” THE SOUTHERN ALLIANCE ” …
In 2007 with KRISS and SANDRO RUSSO start a big and serious label project : UNDERCUT RECORDS & UNDERCUT FORWARD.
In 2008 starts the “TRANSITION LAB project” and become real thanks to the Nine Club and Torre Regina Giovanna.
The project is based on the intention to create something different: Underground atmospheres, pumping sound system, good music and a really nice place makes this night one of the most interesting in Puglia and is going to be home for a lot of the best underground Djs around the world, believing every day and always more in the music as endless and universal mean of communication :)
in 2011 he enters in catalogs of LITTLE HELPERS.
In 2012 he close a very grat release on SAFARI NUMERIQUE and WE ARE.
In 2013 he entry like new artist into FACHWERK family and start to think about Transition Lab not only like a festival but also like a new Label music project.
