  • Soundcrash presents a spellbinding night of desert blues with Grammy Award winners Tinariwen and very special guests on the 16th November at The Roundhouse. Fresh off the back of the release their new album ‘Emmaar’ which The Independent described as ‘A magical union of the poetic and the rhythmic that proves endlessly irresistible’, Tinariwen are looking to produce a show a bit special for their night at the magical Roundhouse in Camden. A truly unmissable experience. Very few bands have a story like Tinariwen’s. Formed in Libya while in Exile from Mali, their music reflects the repression of their people and the determination for political representation. This group of Tuareg musicians incorporate influences from North West Africa, and for the recording of their 6th album ‘Emmaar’, the influence of another desert is present: Joshua Tree, California. Time Out described the album as ‘never less than hypnotic and entrancing’. Known for their atmospheric textures and gritty guitar-work, Tinariwen remain truly absorbing with every song taking you on an endless magical desert journey. Their music has core of simplicity and honesty, this show will be unique experience that everyone should witness! Yasmine Hamdan became known with Soapkills, the duo she founded in Beyrouth, which must have been the first indie/electronic band to appear in the Middle East. The music of Soapkills quickly became the soundtrack to the vibrant, young arts scene which developed in postwar Lebanon, the band gradually acquired an emblematic status and, to this day, Yasmine is considered as an underground icon throughout the Arab world. Yasmine moved to Paris a few years ago, and started working with Mirwais (who was part of French electronic new wave band Taxi Girl in the 80s, and produced/co-wrote Madonna's "Music" as well as the "American Life" album). Under the Y.A.S. moniker, Yasmine and Mirwais recorded the "Arabology" album, which came out in 2009.
