Vivid LIVE: Siberian Nights with Andy Stott

  • Entering a parallel reality where cosmic synthesizers, heaving techno and hyper-real visuals meld in an underground haven, Siberia Records will open the Vivid LIVE Studio series with electronic mastermind Andy Stott – bridging bass-churning tech and the heavenly vocal cuts of his critically acclaimed Luxury Problems – and Midnight Juggernauts' all-new fully immersive sensory experience AERIALS. Club-taskmasters FORCES, DCM, Four Door, Black Vanilla and prodigious new Siberia signee Cassius Select will take you to the final frontiers. Finally making his Australian debut with 20 releases in tow, Andy Stott's kick-led loops and heaving atmospherics continue his hometown's legendary Manchurian lineage for dark-art originality. From the name-breaking one-two punch of Passed Me By and We Stay Together (2011) to the sinking dub-depths of Luxury Problems (2012), the Modern Love mainstay has re-aligned techno's fringes with a swarming take on vocal-bred melodies and industrial intensity. 'Anyone who has been fortunate enough to see an Andy Stott live performance knows the man is a master... Luxury Problems highlights this honed skill set in plain sight' – XLR8R Proving a chameleonic counterpoint to Stott in a decade-long career – from the classic dance debut Dystopia (2007) to collaborations with Justice, Solange, Sebastian Tellier and Blood Orange – Midnight Juggernauts will premiere a new completely immersive sensory experience AERIALS, exploring the notion that art has the power to significantly shift one’s perception. Bound by earth’s gravity, human vision evolved to view the world on a horizontal plain. This project is based entirely around the vertical axis, exploring the worlds directly above and below. Guiding the revered principles of national greats Severed Heads with the classic pop ethics of '80s Australiana, Siberia Records introduced the idiosyncratic talent of Kirin J. Callinan to the world, whilst staging cult-like performances with the revolving-door liberties of FLRL and parties alongside transnational counterparts Terrible Records and Young Turks. Joined by bracing techno dissidents FORCES, the future world workouts of DCM, the all-analogue Four Door (Naked on the Vague, Holy Balm), Lavurn Lee's club-cutting alias Cassius Select (Guerre) and Black Vanilla, Siberia Records will now take over Vivid LIVE in a Studio debut that rides haze-riddled electronics, soft-focus melodies and the hard edges of outsider rhythms to euphoric effect.
