Six years since he left his home in Mainz for Berlin, Pooley refuses to surrender to the status quo. The ultimate purist. An enduring visionary. Ian Pooley is a rarity. Twenty years into his professional career, he is regarded as both a cult underground DJ and established mainstream producer. As one of the only artists that walk the path between the two, his sound is as polished as the masters but his approach is distinctively classic and fresh.
Five albums into his career, Pooley has scoured influences from around the globe - Detroit, Chicago, Brazil, playing with funk and always maintaining an emphasis on the groove. His first projects led him to explore dark, hypnotic beats, while his later longplayers on V2 Records were praised for their take on Brazilian samba. A chameleon of his time, Pooley expertise lies in forging new trends before disappearing from the spotlight, only to re-emerge in a completely new direction.
2012 brought him back to the spotlight with a critically appraised release on Innervisions and his fifth studio album is set to drop early 2013, ‘What I Do’, on his own label Pooled Music. Delivering a collecting of tracks that connect firmly with the dancefloor and glow with a timelessness not often found in modern day electronic music.
TRES MANOS:
Tres Manos has been diggin' deep in the crates for over 15 years. With various residencies and a fan base that doesn't stop growing, he is a favorite in every city he plays. Originally from Washington D.C., Tres Manos began his musical career in Denver. In 1998 he moved to Barcelona, Spain and has been playing a leading role in city's underground house scene ever since. When he's not traveling around the world to perform or throwing slammin' events back home, he is hard at work co-running the record label Your Only Friend and producing music for esteemed labels such as Detour and Om records(some under the name "2Cheap Tricks" with GarcyNoise). Currently he is producing music with his label Partner, Steve Ferrand under the name Your Only Friend.
AIBY:
Aiby (aka International Bitch) was a bit weird as a little kid, and even then was quite fascinated by music and performance. You could probably go so far as to say that her first "gigs" were the mad rants she would perform at a ripe 5 years old. Jumping up on tables at cafes or any public place that played music to charm the people around and drive her mother nuts. Shortly after, she also made sure every family reunion had a little song and dance by the young Aiby. Thereafter, began her telephonic golden era of randomly calling people and sharing her greatest hits.
For this little busybody, Djing, making music, and singing seemed to be the natural next step.
