Deadly People

  • In February 2008 Phil Hutcheon of Modular Records fame decided he was ready for something new. He left the label and put together a team of talented sods who collectively call themselves Deadly People, with offices in London and New York, just for a start. Never ones to waste any time, the Deadly gang has already been regularly jetting over to Paris, New York, Berlin and Sweden to throw parties, dragging the likes of Hot Chip, Yacht and the Junior Boys along with them. Last month in London they casually introduced Disco to the big room at Fabric, bringing together LCD Soundsystem's Pat Mahoney and London's two best clubs - Horsemeat Disco and Disco Bloodbath. And sure, that was fun, but now the gloves are off, and it's time to properly introduce Round One of the Deadly experience. Kicking things off with the distinctive programming style you have come to expect from the team, their first London party is the perfect mix of live bands and DJs with friends and family getting together for an all night bash at the Papermill. Live headliners The Virgins are one of the hottest bands in New York, and heirs apparent to The Strokes. You heard it here first! Come check out songs from their forthcoming album, already making waves in the US. Support comes from London up and comers Invasion (featuring members of Chromehoof), who thrash out Black Sabbath-style stoner rock. When it’s time to put the guitars away, Deadly Management stars, Buraka Som Sistema (Portugal’s Kuduro superstars) and Drop The Lime (bass-driven dance from New York) will take over the decks along with Deadly's very good friends, Midnight Juggernauts (Australia’s new-wave of electro-pop) and the Beeper man himself, Herve!
