Get Physical Music is a Berlin based electronic music record label founded in 2002 by M.A.N.D.Y., DJ T., and Booka Shade. Together, they push the boundaries of dance music to compile an enviable arsenal of electro kissing house while caressing disco and flirting with techno. The imprint has become one of the most recognisable names globally and in 2005, DJ Mag named it “label of the year”. On Saturday September 20 we welcome two of the labels founders as well as some of its other leading lights.
M.A.N.D.Y.
Patrick Bodmer & Philipp Jung are one of the most heavily booked German DJ acts. Their track Body Language was the ubiquitous hit of 2005 and M.A.N.D.Y.'s Fabric series three years later cemented their reputation as two of the most captivating selectors on the planet. Their sound? M.A.N.D.Y. weave together house, electro house, techno and a slice of pop or two, all stitched with a feeling for both musical ingenuity and for the dance floor.
DJ T.
Thomas Koch aka DJ T. has been a vital part of electronic music and club culture for over 25 years. Whether DJing in his hometown of 5 years, Berlin or gigging internationally, T.’s sets are invariably stirring and extraordinarily varied. T. is no style fascist, nor is he a slave to trends; he is a bass- and groove-addicted club historian, with a firm grasp of the contemporary. His sets turn 25 years of electronic music history into one finely rendered journey, transforming the links between genres and ages into a truly physical experience, whether he's capturing the peak-time party spirit, or sending early morning crowds into veritable delirium.
BLOND:ISH
BLOND:ISH exploded onto the scene in 2008 as members of the notorious Get Physical family along with a slew of other labels. Whether they are playing atop the Maayan Warrior bus at Burning Man, at Space in Ibiza for Richie Hawtin’s Enter or the sunrise set on the beach during Mexico’s BPM festival, BLOND:ISH always captivate the dance floor with their dark, sensual beats, sultry DJ sets and outrageous, fun-loving attitude.
Brett Johnson
With influences ranging from early house and disco to turntablism and techno, Brett Johnson successfully straddles the line between knowledgeable "thinking man's" DJ and genuine, primal floor-filler. Brett's sound is best known as groovy, bumping house with a hearty dose of techno elements, crafted and mixed in a way that is truly identifiable as his own. Whether DJing or creating music, his wild card is an ability to inject warmth and soul into his electronic sound. The result is an impressive discography filled with unique statements, otherworldly surprises, and undeniable club stompers.
Fabio Giannelli
Italian born Fabio Giannelli has spent exactly half his life doing what he does best: making dance floors sweat. In June 2012, Fabio's track 'Mercury Star' featured on Get Physical compilation Full Body Workout Vol.9. He followed up with his first Get Physical EP, 'Let the Spirit Sing', featuring the highly acclaimed track ‘Maintain’ which would go on to top charts and find a spot in countless DJ sets worldwide.
