Body Contact and Mania join forces to bring you Huerco S. and Madteo for the very first time in Australia!
Huerco S. aka Brian Leeds is a recent Brooklyn inhabitant, who moved to the big smoke from Kansas last year after a string of in-demand EPs on labels like Opal Tapes, Future Times, Wicked Bass and Anthony Naples’ Proibito imprint. With an unashamedly small setup, Leeds describes himself as more of a collagist, often turning to old films and other quirky sound sources to find samples for his beautifully left of centre creations. In 2013, Software Records became home to his first long playing release, Colonial Patterns, which saw Leeds further develop his sonic explorations of less dance floor orientated material, whilst his crafty output on Proibito as Royal Crown of Sweden cemented his music in the bags of house DJs around the world.
Madteo aka Matteo Ruzzon is an Italian producer who has also called New York home since moving there in the early 90s. With his first output appearing in 2007, Madteo has become an enigmatic underground figure, with his eccentric personality shining through in releases for labels like Morphine, Hinge Finger, Workshop and Meakusma. A passionate crate digger, heavily influenced by the rugged house music of Detroit, 80’s proto house and new wave, Italo disco and 90s hip hop, Madteo’s DJ sets are as diverse as his wonderfully obscure productions.
