Lost Dawn presents The Fifth Birthday

  • After five very special years, we return to the heart of pulsating Brixton to present to you another amazing event. Having built up a hard earned reputation for diverse line ups featuring the cream of electronic talent both old and new, paired with a production ethos some larger clubs only dream of, this will be a birthday party to remember! May 2014 saw Lost Dawn put on our largest party yet, with the legendary Nick Warren at the helm. This time round we turn to the future of dance music with three of the hottest talents to emerge for years. We welcome a global outfit who join us from either space or another dimension. 2014 has been one epic year for the Futuristic Polar Bears. Since their chart topping tune ‘Back to Earth’ achieved the seemingly unachievable by being exclusively aired at the 60,000 strong TomorrowWorld festival by world No1. DJ Hardwell and then picked up by his label, revellers across the globe have been pawing to hear their latest tracks. Their distinctly progressive electro house sound has been getting full support from the likes of Fatboy Slim, Steve Angello and many more. The live show and energetic stage performances have been destroying dance floors around the world and they have appeared with everyone from Danny Howard to Tocadisco. Futuristic Polar Bears undisputed reach reflects the magic they have created in the studio and on the plethora of labels like Strictly Rhythm, Perfecto and Subliminal. Their Lost Dawn debut performance will, quite simply, rock hard. Flying in from Germany comes our first headliner, bringing a distinctly trance based flavour to party proceedings. Signed to Euphonic, Ronski Speed is rightly regarded as a leading light driving trance music forward. With original productions, collaborations and remixes peppering the dance charts and featuring in DJs record boxes around the world, he is a force to be reckoned with. Phil Reynolds is probably the biggest star in London’s once huge hard trance scene. Holding residencies at Frantic, Convergence and releasing tracks on the mighty Nukleuz imprint, his high tempo sets have set dance floors on fire for the best part of 15 years. Following his last ever hard trance set, now get front and centre as he showcases his new progressive sound for Lost Dawn Our live band showcase is headlined by synth pop duo I AM A CAMERA. Northern Irishman Ian Watts is at the helm of the beats and Mancunian Francesca Ross adds the haunting vocals to this post 80’s revisionist dance outfit who have recently remixed Beyonce’s “Love Hurts” and released their best hit to date “Lost in Love”. Their music draws inspiration from a range of acts from Kraftwerk to De La Soul and they have been on remix duties for Lana Del Rey, Pet Shop Boys and many more….I Am A Camera talk with passion about their partnership. ‘This is about taking risks,’ says Ian. ‘Don’t be afraid to be ridiculous. It’s trying to fit in that will get you in trouble in the end.’ “We are a mix of high art”, explains Francesca, “and low humour” deadpans Ian. I Am A Camera are ready for their close up at Lost Dawn 10:PastDawn is the culmination of creative minds Rob Grant and lyricist Phil Collins. Their distinct sound rises above genre and blends deep, dirty grooves with lighter elements of funk and jazz. Drawing inspiration the likes of Faithless, Massive Attack, Pink Floyd and even Jean Michel Jarre - 10:PastDawn offer a contemporary edge to their live show and we welcome them to our stage at Lost Dawn for this debut performance. Harri Georgio is a multi-talented artist, producer, vocalist and DJ based in Leicester. In his career so far he has garnered support from BBC Introducing, BBC 1Xtra and The Beat. He has played at the Ministry Of Sound, The 02 Arena, Ibiza Boat parties and many more. He also is a sound engineer at HQ Recordings in Leicester, where he develops a range of up and coming artists that play Hip-Hop to Grime and Acoustic to Alternative. His tastes have no bounds. He will expertly take the main room vibe from the start of Lost Dawn and introduce the live bands so expect an eclectic array of house and garage beats from this dynamic upcoming star…. For the late night crowd we bring you a debut live set from psychedelic trance sensation Champa. Since releasing his debut album 'My Son', he's supported Astrix at the Ministry of Sound, took most of the Psy festivals in Europe by storm and lined up his soon to be released second album. He lands at Lost Dawn to give us an exclusive preview of those new tracks Expect a full-on energised performance from one of London's finest in flouro UV madness. Libra 9 brings a wealth of underground DJ experience to the table when he performs live. From hosting his own nights as Phil Lankester to grabbing the attention of rivals based at super clubs like the Brixton Academy and Scala, where he has been asked to promote rooms, he has been a firm fixture and favourite of London’s hard dance crowds. Phil moved away from Trance to Psychedelic and started including it in his sets at his newly born party ‘Puzzle Project’ in 2005 and this was where Libra 9 was born. After a host of successful events, Phil was asked to play for global label HOMMega’s at ‘Halcyon’ - in London’s ‘Matter’ club (Millennium Dome). Under the guidance of super-promoter Paul Jack, ‘Halycon’ and Libra 9 have gone stratospheric with supporting gigs for Astrix and Infected Mushroom at the Ministry of Sound and Electric Brixton to name but a few. Phil’s devout following in London has progressed to tours in Hong Kong, Thailand, Australia and New Zealand. And at this moment in time Libra 9 is currently working on album material of which we will be treated to a sneaky preview…. Now his land legs have returned we welcome Braam Alberts. As head honcho of mighty boat trance party promotion Friendz, his uplifting style and close association with such stellar artists as Daniel Kandi, Dan Stone, Stoneface & Terminal and James Dymond have made him a firm fixture in the London scene and we are hoping the good captain will steer us into pleasant waters with waves of progressive bliss. With 15 years experience of the London and Cambridge hard house and trance scene with regular guest slots at legendary parties like Sunnyside Up, DJ Mai joins the crew at Lost Dawn to showcase the progressive sound she has been wowing the airwaves with on XTC Radio. Having spent much of his DJ career heavily involved in the Cambridge dance music scene, resident at “Immersed” and running “Journeys” as well as regular appearances on the free party scene, Magroo joins us for a debut Lost Dawn set bringing his upbeat and energetic style - so get ready for some proper hands in the air action!
