  • EMPRESS In 1999, Empress was the first stateside Drum & Bass DJ ever invited to play in London. Regarded as one of the most technically prolific female DJs in the world, New York City's own high profiling Empress has rocked the world with her treasured heavy music and kinetic DJ sets. Since 1996 she has toured the best clubs, festivals & events all over Europe and Asia, has also played almost every major city in North America, including all over Puerto Rico, Canada and Mexico. A real "DJs DJ" known for repping the deep, dark, musical & rolling dramatic genres of Bass Music such as; Drum & Bass, Post Dubstep & Avant UK Bass. ADDISON GROOVE: Addison Groove (aka Antony Williams) started life under a different pseudonym altogether. Recording as Headhunter, with an LP and 12” releases on the influential Tempa label stretching back to 2007, he achieved legendary status within the dubstep scene. His work at the deeper end of the spectrum graced the label an impressive 7 times, a figure matched only by Skream. This work looked set to continue until 2010 when, seemingly out of nowhere, he crafted one of the biggest bass music tracks of the decade, ‘Footcrab’, under the new name of Addison Groove. The response to ‘Footcrab’ was phenomenal, receiving critical and commercial success in equal measure across the dance music scene. Getting plays not only from the dubstep DJs that Williams was used to reaching, it also found its way into the record boxes of techno and house heavyweights such as Aphex Twin, Surgeon, Ricardo Villalobos and Mr Scruff, bringing an enormous new audience to his music in the process. Taking influences from the Chicago ghetto tek and juke scenes, Addison Groove’s impact on UK bass music has been colossal and unprecedented, sparking a huge interest in these styles from his peers and the listening public alike. DJ ASSAULT: Ass. Titties. Ass 'n Titties. Enough said. DJ SLUGO: From 1984-1987, Slugo honed his skills by observing the skills of his local heroes. Participating in heated dj battles won him acclaim as a technical expert on the wheels of steel. He released his first truly professional mix tape Ghetto Mix Part III (1992). This tape landed in the hands of Ray Barney, CEO of the Chicago-based Dance Mania, one of the largest dance music labels in the world. Barney and Slugo formalized an agreement resulting in a long stream of releases on the Dance Mania label and affording Slugo the freedom to form his own label, Subterranean Playhouse. The release of the popular Cardboard Booty mix CD, called “the most influential ghetto house CD ever made” by London’s Underbeat Magazine, who also went on to call DJ Slugo, “the Ghetto-father of the American dance floor.” As his fame spread, releases with other national labels, such as Underground Construction, Dance Mania, GTI Records, Serotonin Records, Data Bass, CWAL Mob Recordings, Wide Records and Crosstalk International, Inc., as well as his follow up album, The Ghetto Don, flew off the shelves.
