Five Brisbane bass crews are putting together a massive party to celebrate the arrival of spring and the annual Valley Fiesta. Dank Morass, Hard Graft, Junglettes, Rukus and Roll Deeper are excited to present all night dubstep vs drum n bass mash up on Saturday 13th September, with a very special guest in the form of UK garage/dubstep pioneer Zed Bias.
Transitioning from his roots as a rare groove DJ in the early 90s, Zed Bias is a true innovator of the new bass movement. Operating under a multitude of names with production partners (Maddslinky, Phuturistix, Daluq, The Henchman) and gradually developing his own dark, bassy take on the UK garage sound, he joined forces with Ammunition Promotions early this decade and effectively laid the groundwork for the dubstep scene that would soon ripple through Britain. Continuing to produce for new artists on his own labels out of Manchester, Zed has embraced the sound he spawned and returned to the studio with a vengeance, pushing the darker, sub-bass driven tunes for labels such as the seminal Big Apple and Australia’s first dubstep imprint, Aquatic Lab, which is run by Sydney’s pioneering Garage Pressure crew. Zed Bias will bring a diverse range of garage-inflected dubstep sounds to the dancefloor.
Joining Zed will be the finest of Brisbane’s bass and breaks crews – Dreadknowledge (Roll Deeper), Speakerwrath (Rukus), De La Haye (Junglettes, Rukus), Citizen and Swob (Dank Morass).
As an added bonus, the Step Inn’s Boozer Bar will host a free night of hip hop, bleeps and beats hosted by Walrii (Dank Morass) and featuring Saint Surly vs Monster Monster (live MPC vs turntable set), Prince Nod (Force Fed Fistfuls, 4ZZZ) Arku (White Rhino) and Rhythm Collision Sound System.
