L-VIS 1990
London-based DJ, producer, co-founder of Night Slugs label, L-Vis 1990 (James Connolly) has been releasing a singular brand of club music free of rules and genres since dropping his eponymous debut EP in 2008. Drawing from classic Dance Mania and Underground Construction vibes to deliver 5 tape-saturated, strictly-analog slices of modern-day ghetto hard house - his productions and live sets have been championed by festivals, clubs, and DJs across the world.
Everyone claims to be a rule-breaker these days, but try putting into words the music on his and Bok Bok’s imprint or any of his tracks and remixes over the past few years and it should quickly become apparent that L-Vis 1990 has been doing things just a little bit differently.
TRAXMAN
One of Chicago’s most important and versatile juke and footwork producers for more than two decades, Traxman (aka Cornelius Ferguson) is co-founder of the Geto DJz clique and member of Teklife crew. The follow-up to his acclaimed 2012 album "Da Mind of Traxman" was released this year via Planet Mu.
BLUE HAWAII (DJ SET)
Part of Montreal's fertile electronic pop scene, Blue Hawaii is the work of Raphaelle Standell-Preston (also of the dream pop band Braids) and Agor (aka Alexander Cowan). The pair began working together in early 2010 and, inspired by their travels in Central America, released the Blooming Summer EP on Arbutus Records later that year. Though issues like the success of Braids' Native Speaker and Cowan's stint in Europe meant that the duo couldn't work on their music together in person as much as before, they continued writing songs individually and then recorded them in studios across Canada. The result was the sleek, chilly pop of Untogether, which Arbutus issued in February of 2013.
EQUATOR CLUB
Equator Club is a Chicago based Producer/DJ and co-founder of Them Flavors. With his innovative production and ability to reach into all genres of underground and upcoming culture, Equator Club forges his own unique style of dance music.
