A DAY IN THE DESERT is an intimate music experience in a magic desert oasis. DITD offers 200 guests the chance to escape into 640 acres of preserved desert wilderness and enjoy an artist line-up that is curated to match the landscape. There is only one stage showcasing the best in contemporary music.
ACTRESS, aka Darren Cunningham, will be performing in the headline spot, which at DITD is during sunset. The unique backdrop of an amphitheater carved out of boulders is poignantly marked at first by the pink, orange and blue hues of the desert sky and then transformed underneath a starry sky and bath of lasers. Known widely as one of the UK’s foremost cutting edge and dynamic electronic producers, this particular set promises to be something extremely special.
The hyper-curated selection is a mix of ambient, drone, hardware-based live electronic, metal, psychedelic, house and disco – the music changing with the time of day.
The $200 all-in ticket price includes live and DJ sets, camping, food and drinks, yoga classes, sound baths and a host of other surprises. Leave your wallet in the car, BYOW (bring your own whatever), set up a tent and let the environment suck you in for the weekend as time stands still.
Guests are encouraged to arrive Friday night 10/10/14 for a warm-up DJ party in the YURT including DJ sets from GREG BOWLER and COSMIC RON (Cosmic Kids) + more TBA.
Saturday 10/11/14 starts out with an opening set from UK’s THIS IS MUSIC DESERT DRONES & DUB, who are followed by the tripped out space music of CHROME CANYON. A sound bath featuring gongs and quartz bowls sets the mood straight as we move into the sunset headline slot with ACTRESS. ‘House synth band’ S U R V I V E return to DITD from Austin for the third year running with their epic and spacey homemade synth compositions. Also on the ‘DAY’ is a rare West Coast live set from NYC techno duo BLONDES. DJs LOVEFINGERS and HEIDI and SONNS round off the night in full dance party splendor.
