Slanted and Enchanted is excited to present North London hypnotic post-industrial disco vendors, Factory Floor, on Saturday, December 13 at The Bakery on their first ever Australian tour, which includes an appearance at Meredith Music Festival.

They stand alone in the space between sounds, separate from any one scene while simultaneously flirting with a dozen different aesthetics. It’s music that’s as retro as it is futuristic, like a modern take on the ‘Madchester’ sound of decades past, yet still seemingly ahead of its time with a sound in perpetual flux.
This is music to march to. It is a rhythm that comes rushing up mine shafts, up bore holes, through volcanic vents, up via tectonic cracks, until it pierces the surface tension. Then great ragged chunks of guitar noise fall like flaming rock from the sky. – The Quietus
On their self-titled debut record out through DFA Records, repetition becomes a mantra – or, as drummer Gabe Gurnsey puts it: “repetition is the platform for free thought.” Rarely is electronic music so sinister yet so eminently danceable as on Fall Back, where pulsating synths whine over a hypnotic beat beneath wistful, half-robotic vocals.

What’s most striking about Factory Floor is their versatility and their chameleon-like ability to navigate the realms of minimal, techno, post-punk and electronica with the greatest of ease. Their list of collaborators and remixers speaks to that instinct, from Joy Division/New Order’s Stephen Morris to Cabaret Voltaire’s Richard H Kirk to Throbbing Gristle’s Chris Carter. This is music that transcends borders.
