Comm•une with Max Graef, Shanti Celeste, K15

  • comm•une return to Dance Tunnel for the start of a new schedule of bi-monthly (ish) parties. To mark the occasion they invite three of their favourite emerging producers and djs to showcase their exceptional takes on dusty, machine-driven dance music... Max Graef (Tartelet/Box Aus Holz) Born-and-bred in Berlin, 21-year old Max Graef is part of a new generation of producers emerging from the city with a fresh sound that is genuinely unconcerned with convention. His music is driven by groove and a real sense of fun, whether that be through his deft use of sampling or live instrumentation. Sitting snugly between the worlds of House, Jazz, Hip-Hop and bass, someone recently described Graef as a cross between Motor City Drum Ensemble and Madlib. Be sure to check out his debut album 'Rivers Of The Red Planet', his recent Mr Scruff remix or his label Box Aus Holz, if you haven't already. Shanti Celeste (Idle Hands/Broadwalk) A key figure in Bristol's Idle Hands crew, Shanti Celeste is one of the city's finest DJ's. Spending her days working in a record store, there's an invitingly breezy and warm lilt to her playing style that so far crossed over effortlessly into her own music. Putting out material on Idle Hands and her and Chris Farrell's BRSTL imprint, she now appears on the cusp of great things with her third release - a measured offering of classic leaning House and beautifully constructed Electro music for Julio Bashmore's Broadwalk. Her recent mix for RA is a real testament to the quality of her skills as a selector. K15 (Wild Oats/Wot Not Music) Practice - for some at least, really does make perfect. A resident at Camden's famed Jazz Café for over half a decade, K15 honed a genre blending ability as a DJ that saw him finally arrive in 2012 with productions that already sounded like the real deal. Since his first release on WotNot back in 2012, he's been building up a rep with a richly musical dancefloor style that ropes in Soul, Hip-Hop and Jazz influences with consumate ease. Long overdue some praise, his forthcoming 'Insecurities' EP for Kyle Hall's Wild Oats should see him shake off his status as one of the underground's most unsung heroes.
