Animals Dancing NYD 2015

  • Animals Dancing are delighted to present our fourth New Years Day party, with a carefully assembled bunch of musical legends designed for maximising the good vibes for 2015! DJ Alfredo is THE Ibiza legend. The father of Balearic Beat, which in turn inspired millions through it’s various evolutions including acid house, championed by the balearic prophets Danny Rampling, Paul Oakenfold and Nicky Holloway amongst others. Turning a mere 60 years old recently, Alfredo hasn’t stopped since his first appearance at the famous Amnesia club in Ibiza in 1983 and continues to live up to the godlike aura bestowed upon him by all your DJs favourite DJs favourite DJ. Maxmillion Dunbar is one half of Beautiful Swimmers and the don behind the Washington DC based Future Times record label. A background wound around MC skills and a side hustle DJ’ing disco, Dunbar first tried his fingers at programming hip hop beats, eventually finding his way to his rogue breed of house music we hear today on labels such as L.I.E.S, Trilogy Tapes and RVNG INTL. This will be Max D’s second Melbourne show, after he knocked everyone’s socks off at The Mercat some 2 years ago. Representing Vancouver; Pender Street Steppers. The Mood Hut honchos and PPU contributors are celebrated for their ability to instantly imbibe an atmosphere of love, sensuality and freedom. Dancers can expect to hear anything from deep-dance to riviera-disco, jazz-funk to beat-street loonie bin house and exclusive and unreleased material from the Canadian Riviera and beyond! This will be PSS’s debut Australian show, despite one half of the duo growing up in Sydney. Spiritual stuff you wouldn’t ever read about. A Glasgow native, Scott Fraser produced techno and DJed for the latter of the nineties, working with Weatherall’s Special Emissions label, Francois K’s Wave Records and Black Nation in Detroit. After taking some time out to make the move to London, Fraser took up creative residence in Andrew Weatherall's East London recording studios some years ago, where his subsequent output of machinations through various tempos and styles (usually opt for slower mechanical jams giving a nod to New Beat, Wave and Dub) have seen him become a mainstay in the recent wave of London underground “Machine Funk”. Scott has contributed to labels like World Unknown, Bird Scarer, Horn Wax, Astrolab Recordings, along with he and Timothy J. Fairplay’s ‘Crimes of the Future’ Label and collaborations with Capracara, Douglas McCarthy of Nitzer Ebb and many more. Supporting, as always, are Tornado Wallace, Otologic and Andee Frost. ANNOUNCEMENT: Due to a last minute unavoidable hiccup from the venue, the party will move 210 metres up the road to the corner of Hoddle st and Johnston st (entrance via Sackville st). Extra special care has been taken to ensure that the event will not only go ahead but it will be EVEN BLOODY BETTER. We're happy to announce that one of the highlights of last year's NYD party - the SEX CAULDRON - will make a triumphant return adding Jez, Moopie, Sleep D and Awesome Wales to the already banging line-up. And our (and soon to be yours) new bestie Parker - all the way from LA - will be opening up the main room. Hooley dooley. Gee whizz. Any queries mail [email protected].
