  • IMS will make its way to Singapore on December 11 in partnership with Pioneer and W Hotels. The International Music Summit – which began life in Ibiza in 2007 - will unite the Asia-Pacific scene at the W Singapore – Sentosa Cove Singapore as IMS Asia-Pacific. The event will sit next to the hugely influential and impactful Zouk Out festival. Regarded as the premier platform for thought leaders in electronic music, the International Music Summit is where announcements for the season ahead are made and deals are confirmed. With talks by some of electronic dance music’s foremost DJs, their managers and owners of the most significant brands in dance music, it is a place for everyone who is anyone in the dance music industry – estimated in an IMS business report this year to be worth US$6.2 billion (S$7.9 billion) annually. The aim of IMS is to educate, inspire and motivate and is dedicated to creating awareness of, and appreciation for, electronic music – the artistry related to DJ-ing and all related popular art forms, primarily through the presentation of summits and events that celebrate the historic and ongoing contribution of the genre to art and culture worldwide. Presented by Radio One’s Pete Tong MBE, who describes IMS as “an intense networking environment with the glamour and glitz of my favourite party island of Ibiza, but with a Back to Business ethos and leading into the official Ibiza opening party weekend”, the event is now the pre-eminent industry platform by virtue of the foremost names in the industry being there. IMS co-founder Ben Turner states: “This event has been created to unite the Asia-Pacific industry but also to educate and entertain delegates from around the world about this incredible frontier which is finally opening up in a huge way to electronic music culture.” With many artists and industry players expected to be present for Zouk Out weekend, it serves as a perfect opportunity to unite the industry as well as to educate the wider world about the opportunity, challenges and current successes of the region. The discussions will focus on topics relevant to the region with contributions from headline talent, industry icons from the region, plus international visionaries and heavyweights. “We’ve positioned ourselves the day before the ZoukOut to help further the focus on this festival into a powerful business forum, and Zouk’s founder Lincoln Cheng has been a guiding light for all the IMS partners for the last 20 years. It is a huge honour for us to bring IMS to Asia-Pacific and to help galvanise this region for the future of the genre we know and love,” adds Turner. IMS Asia-Pacific will feature a series of panels, keynote interviews, keynote speeches, workshops and tutorials. Connecting Asian leaders from the worlds of finance, technology, music and media with European/American leaders in the same fields. Held at the W Singapore – Sentosa Cove, it is the extension of the partnership between IMS and W Hotels Worldwide, which started in Ibiza. “W Hotels Worldwide has a longstanding passion for music,” says Arnaud Champenois, Asia-Pacific Senior Brand Director, W Hotels Worldwide.“Driven by what’s new/next philosophy, we’ve been working with industry partners to supportemerging talent, encourage sound exchanges around the world. From the first partnership with IMS in Ibiza to Los Angeles, we are very proud to play an instrumental role in taking the IMS to a global level with the launch of the first ever IMS Asia-Pacific at W Singapore – Sentosa Cove. To celebrate this partnership, we have also prepared a series of happenings that will feature an industry icon and headlining talent at W Singapore – Sentosa Cove and W Retreat & Spa Bali, Seminyak.” The nine-hour event will be hosted by Pete Tong. Tickets to the event, which also include a buffet lunch and cocktail event post event plus an official after-party at Attica with Paul Oakenfold – one of the first international names to open up the region - are affordably priced at: • 75€/S$125 Early Bird Special (first 100 Badges) • 99€/S$160 Normal Badge • 125€/S$205 Late Badge There will also be special IMS + ZoukOut 2014 badge and ticket combo for 189.50€/S$310.
