Delete 8th Birthday with John Heckle

  • After what feels like aeons since our last barn-stormer with A Sagittarian, Delete is conjoining the power rings to bring our faithful massive back into the zone to channel the mighty energy of the party spirits in a joyful celebration of electronic music of the most transcendental nature. The team have been busy in the mean time, getting involved with all sorts of parties big and small, including popping up at our annual séance Freerotation and firing off releases for the Delete in-house labels Nothing Odd and Schmorgasbord. Now though, it’s time to bring it all back home and do what we do best, invite down a guest we’re positively giddy about and whip The Winchester up into a sweat-slicked frenzy. And who better to do that than a man who has been on our hit list for too long now, the mighty JOHN HECKLE. The gutsy Scouser has absolutely ripped up the house and techno scene over the past few years, slamming out two blinding albums and a storming salvo of singles, while his live sets have shown any analogue chancers just what it takes to make a truly dynamic hardware performance. For his visit to us however wanted to reach for his considerable DJing talents. When John gets on the decks he reaches into the mists of rarified gems from the early 80s up to now, the common factor being heavy, heated jackers that bristle with energy in a manner that we just know will absolutely set the room alight. Alongside our man Heckle, the Delete residents will be champing at the bit to fly out their own selections, what with months of record buying bulging their bags out with that inimitable selectors mentality that has shaped our party out since the beginning, and kept you dancefloor deviants coming back for more. Meanwhile in the vault, we’ve thrown the doors open to some of the dear friends of the Delete stable, both new and old. Mat Harwood will be representing Unearthed Sounds, the top-drawer record shop that has landed on the Wimborne Road, and he’s promised to dig deep for some classic 1992-1996 era jungle bizness for the occasion. Meander will be back once again to deliver a masterclass of disco-infused grooves – he’s quite simply one of our favourite DJs in Bournemouth from his skills to his selections. We’re utterly chuffed to be welcoming back our old cohort Jim-R from the Blink Soundsystem posse – a man we’ve had the pleasure of partying with and dancing to for many a year, and he’ll be whipping a veritable mixed bag of funk infused rhythms across the tempo range. Last but not least, after his sterling set at the last Delete we were dead set on having Joe Johnston back to throw down another set of 4/4 belters for us. So what more do you need to know? The nights will be drawing in, the snap of winter will be upon us, so it’s high time we all nestle in to one big ravey huddle and have it proper large again. We’re positively ecstatic at the prospect. Much love Delete x
