New for 2015, Oval Space is delighted to introduce Ovation, its own live music promotion wing, which will be bringing industry recognized acts that rarely play in London to a wider audience. Launching the series on February 12th 2015 is one of Brainfeeder and Ninja Tune’s finest, TOKiMONSTA. Known for creating vast textural soundscapes by combining live instruments, percussion, digital manipulation and vinyl, this will be the LA native’s first live London show in five years.
Joining her is the enigmatic Slow Magic, who combines sweeping ethereal synths with glitchy beats to create maximalist R&B tinged soundtracks. Describing his sound as one that’s ‘made by an unknown imaginary friend’ the anonymous masked producer will be playing tracks off his 2014 sophomore album How to Run Away in this rare London show.
Rounding up the line up is tipped London-based producer et aliae. An increasing presence on ‘Ones to Watch’ lists from the likes of Spin, Pigeons and Planes and The 405 to name a few, she has remained anonymous until recently, choosing Soundcloud and Bandcamp as a way of connecting with other musicians and fans alike.
Toby Gale is an electronic music producer and DJ who, according to Dummy, is 'causing a stir in the abyssal deep-sea environment of the online underground'. He makes Super Mario-meets-Debussy, disco-inspired, slo-mo club jams (according to Clash, XLR8R and Fact, respectively) and has released music on Tape Club, Slugabed's Activia Benz, Ryan Hemsworth's Secret Songs, as well as swapped remix duties with Kero Kero Benito and Maxo of PC Music affiliation.
