  • From the people that brought you Label Takeover, we are bringing JIMMY EDGAR back to Boston after 2 years! We are beyond excited for this and hope you are too. JIMMY EDGAR The word talented doesn’t even begin to describe the multifaceted and creative visionary Jimmy Edgar — a musician, artist, graphic designer, photographer, DJ, producer, film maker, label owner, and much more. Born in Detroit, Jimmy grew up in a place and time when you could hear ghetto-tech, house, and R&B almost anywhere. This influenced Jimmy at the age of 15 as he began experimenting with sound manipulation, playing drums and saxophone, and later, played piano at a local Baptist gospel church. Eventually, this lead to Jimmy entering the techno scene and spinning at Detroit raves alongside legends Derrick May, Juan Atkins, and Kevin Saunderson. At 18, Jimmy signed with Warp Records which launched his career to be noticed and loved by audiences worldwide for his refined music, customized visual shows, and ability to get people dancing—especially at his debut at the Detroit Music Festival where the security guards were getting down to his music and joining in on the rave. He has released music on influential labels like !K7 and Hotflush Records. Over the years, Jimmy has been able to meld the analog and digital world in the musical way possible. In an interview with Koma Elektronik, Jimmy described himself as a “synth nerd” and explained his musical transition from using early analog synthesizers (like the 808) to involving more complex polysynths and modular synths to recording analog sounds in combination with digital techniques. Jimmy’s latest creation is Ultramajic—his label that is a collaboration between Jimmy Edgar, Travis Stewart (Machinedrum), and artist Pilar Zeta. Since it’s inception in 2013, Ultramajic has released groundbreaking music from Jimmy Edgar, Aden (aka Machinedrum), Danny Daze, Spatial, SOPHIE, and Chambray, as well as, vibrant, spiritual, and meticulously designed graphics by Pilar Zeta and Jimmy that have branded the look and mission of Ultramajic. “We are exploring ideas about musical shamanism, digital altars, and meditation through color and vibration,” Edgar entices. Get ready for a night that you won’t want to miss. ALI BERGER Ali Berger is a producer, live act, and DJ committed to the party. He plays with love and uncompromising honesty no matter the time and place, from peak-hours club sets to casual afternoon jams. Ali can be spotted teaching music production at Mmmmaven, spinning records and CDs all around the northeast, and occasionally hauling a suitcase full of drum machines to a club for a rare live PA set. DEV/NULL Dev/Null (Pete Cassin) got started by listening to Crazy Jungle / DNB in the mid to late 90's, which then lead him to music production. He was able to release much of his brain-busting experimental breakcore music on several notable European labels and perform shows in the UK, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Japan. Settling back into his record collecting days, Dev/Null came back to Boston to become a resident at THUNDERDOME and HEARTHROB, two of Boston's most notorious parties of the past 10 years for bringing cutting edge dance music to the city. Dev/Null now focuses much of his time on his website BLOG TO THE OLDSKOOL, 7 years running, that is dedicated to oldskool UK hardcore/jungle, as well as DJ-ing biweekly sets on online stations Jungletrain.net and Radio Frontline. Additionally, Dev/Null started a label 8205 RECORDINGS dedicated to releasing unreleased 91-95 UK Jungle on vinyl, and was recently listed as one of Fact Magazine's "100 Underrated DJs Who Deserves More Shine".
