The modern world always seems hell bent on the next big thing, or at least re-packaging something we all know and love as something else, in order to sell it to us a second time. As such good old house music has been so bastardised, skewed, branded and re-branded that the original vibes, messages and feelings seem to get lost in a whirlwind of buzzy genre terms.
Tailfeather is a new night coming to London that aims to shake off all the bull shit and get back to some original house vibes. If you like original gangsters like Mark Farina and Doc Scott, West Coast house bump and jazzed up Brooklyn styles, the filter heavy fuzz of French house pioneers and crisp kicks and snares of the Chicago greats, then this night is for you.
Playing from 9pm to 2am out at London’s Basing House each Thursday, the night will be built around solid residents with a long and learned house history behind them. There will be affordable drinks, great sound and oodles of house vibes on tap all night long.
The residents at the heart of the night include are Hacienda legend, long standing Back to Basics ressie and Just Jack regular Buckley, House Gangster associate, pirate radio legend and Cross Section Records Chris Simmonds and chief Ketoloco mischief man Chris Halliday. As well as that, promoter, DJ and producer duo Bobby Pleasure & Mike Gill (who’ll spin together as Thrill & Pleasure) also play, as does vinyl aficionado and promoter of the undeniably underground Untitled parties Ewan Smith. Also shakin’ their tailfeathers at during the Autumn Season is Push:On party starter Danny Matthews and Stereo Sleaze’ very own Ben Clifford so if you fancy some no nonsense jack, get yourself down on Thursday October 30th when it all kicks off.
