We have brought together some of the most vibrant creative communities in Chicago in order to create an original New Year’s Eve experience.
This year's Voyager event will partner with Wicker Park’s Chop Shop/1st Ward to makeover the event space into an electric blue world of ice, light, and water.
Canvas Chicago will bring together Chicago artists who will fill the space with unique installations, that have never been seen before. Giant, bioluminescent marine-life will flank the ceilings and halls of the 2-story, 12,000 sq. ft. venue, inviting guests into a projection mapped amphitheater of light and sound. Intelligent life will surround the crashed Voyager probe in an interstellar celebration of what it means to be alive. Laser-cut ice shards will reflect the unique aura of a distant world’s atmosphere as custom video content from Drmbt, Galexy Design and Stoptime341 to bring the room to life.

THE VOYAGER STORY:
NASA launched the twin Voyager space probes, in the late 1970's, on a mission to explore our solar system and beyond. Both Voyager crafts carry messages from Earth on a golden phonograph record. Like a cultural time capsule, the records contain images of people and animals, sounds from nature, spoken greetings in 55 different languages, and music of every kind- from Elvis to Beethoven's 5th Symphony. In 2012, The Voyager 1 probe left our solar system.
Voyager 1 has crash landed on an unexplored world deep in the heart of the Milky Way. Having found the probe, the inhabitants of this world studied the contents of the golden disk and immersed themselves in Earth's art, music, and culture. Inspired by what they have learned, they created an event to celebrate the best of what humanity has to offer: Voyager 2015: A Journey to the New Year.
