In 2012 a 14 year old Samir Alikhanizadeh AKA Happa started uploading his take on UK Bass & Techno to soundcloud. He quickly won the praises of tastemakers including Loefah, Skream, Annie Mac, and Ben UFO. His first 12' release came on underground London label CHURCH which won more support. 2013 saw some special releases from Happa come out on Boomkat and part of Bleep’s Green Series, which young Samir displayed his direction moving towards the tougher techno side of electronic music. Still just 17 years old, Happa recently set up his own label ‘PT/5 Records’ which saw it’s first release from Witch in September 2014. Whilst working on more music his latest production offering ‘Hallucinations’ debuted on James Blake’s BBC Radio 1 show and clearly displays young Samir’s kinetic talent.
Randomer has built up a small but heavy hitting catalogue of work – releasing on Hessle Audio, Hemlock, L.I.E.S. and Clone. His biggest moment came last year with his anthem on Hemlock ‘Bring’ which was played across the board by artists as diverse as Aphex Twin, Ben UFO, Surgeon and Len Faki. With his style firmly geared towards the unpretentious and loud, and his relentless DJ sets, he is set to continue carving out his unique place in electronic music.
In just a few months, Ansome has managed to carve out something of a niche for himself, and it’s all thanks to his hugely confident sound. Inspired by a raw and urban UK techno lineage, his drums are heavyweight, his percussion fierce and his synths full blooded. All in all that makes for music that grabs your attention and drags you along for an enthralling ride. Littered with his own field recordings, it can be variously eerie or boisterous, but its uncompromising stuff that anyone from Perc to Karenn would be proud of.
