Hendrik Weber once lived in the same woods that the Brothers Grimm fairy tales were based in, which perhaps explains the frequently strange and magical atmospheres to be found in much of his music. Under the pseudonym Pantha Du Prince, he fuses house, techno, shoegazy electronica and psychedelic electro-acoustic soundscapes into music that is at once both beautiful and bewitching.
Sojourns in Yorkshire, magic mushroom hotspots and four bedroom-detached houses for £800 a month are a long way from Darkstar's beginnings as a London uni band with The xx as contemporaries. As the least-hyped hottest band to come out of the re-examination of dubstep, Darkstar decided to up roots for their second album, 2013's News from Nowhere, and write from the relative wilderness of Huddersfield. The result is a sophomore album "so unbothered by rhythmic invention it might as well be from a different band" (Pitchfork).
Zomby has consistently proven himself to be a unique presence in an increasingly cluttered field. His discography moves between a spotlit dancefloor focus and darkened emotional introspection. Zomby is an artist who has absorbed the shifting plains of electronic music first hand, and reconfigured them into a definitive, sprawling love letter to the soulful dance music of his past.
A self-confessed Noisician, Paula Temple obliterated 2014 with Deathvox, her second monumental release for R&S records. Her debut Colonized EP made one of biggest statements in 2013 for uncompromising Techno, followed by remixes for avant-electronic acts The Knife, Perera Elsewhere and Planningtorock. Such refreshing high-voltage output has rapidly placed Paula Temple at the forefront of new techno. For her live performance Temple will be delivering a full A/V show and she will be DJing at St John-at-Hackney.
