For the 4th year running Turnmills is proud to present the first of 3
exclusive events throughout 2005 featuring the Grammy-Award winning Roger
Sanchez and his world famous Release Yourself party. The opening night is
Saturday 4th June, which also doubles up as the Official Launch Party for
the S-Man’s acclaimed compilation series, Release Yourself – now on Volume 4
(released through Roger’s own Stealth Records in June).
Like a good wine, Release Yourself simply gets better with age. The
tradition has always been for Roger to man the main room decks for 8 Hours,
but this year Roger’s throwing in an extra two… making it a whooping 10
Hours. The countdown to this year’s first must-see musical journey of 2005
is most definitely on! Last year’s Release Yourself events at Turnmills were
quite possibly the best yet. Nominated at the House Music Awards for ‘Best
Club Night’, Roger’s Release Yourself party continues to set the standard
for all other club nights to follow and Roger himself scooped a well
deserved ‘Best DJ’ Award at the HMA.
Through the years, the Release Yourself community has grown intensively. In
addition to the flagship RY London, Roger holds down other key RY
residencies throughout the world including Ibiza, Paris and Amsterdam. His
RY Radio Show currently broadcasts weekly in 19 different countries reaching
1.2 million listeners and at the end of May, Roger starts his new Mobile
Phone Show on the 3G network here in the UK.
So with Sanchez tearing the main room roof off on his epic
‘all-things-house’ 10 Hour one man crusade, the backroom will be left in the
more than capable hands of two of London’s freshest parties – Funk Royale &
mulletover, joining forces for what promises to be a night of electronic
madness of the highest order! Funk Royale has been bringing people together
in the name of funk, soul, disco, hip-hop, R&B, reggae and Latin for the
past five years across Europe. mulletover meanwhile, is the underground
party that has taken London by storm over the last 12 months with its famous
warehouse parties. DJ’s on the night will be mulletover’s shining star
Geddes and Funk Royale’s ace ressies Sneaker and Toby One, with a little
help from the delightful Trailer Trash rocker, Mikki Most.
