Strp Dance Night 2015

  • STRP Biennial 2015 is a ten-day festival filled with spectacular art, experimental technology and electronic music. A major exhibition of interactive works of art, an extensive dance programme on 21 March and the now sold-out show by Underworld on 27 March are part of the event held every two years. And STRP likes to spread its passion for technology with a series of tours for schools, collaborative projects with students and senior citizens and an international conference in which artists and boffins offer us a glimpse behind the scenes. For further information visit our revamped website www.strp.nl. On 21 March a selection of international top-djs, talented local producers and a very enthusiastic audience will take over the halls of the big industrial Klokgebouw venue. Besides the previously announced Kaytranada, The Gaslamp Killer and Karenn, now Boddika, Actress, ZES and Cold Void & Instruments have been added to the line-up. Boddika was voted three times into the Resident Advisor DJ top of December 2014. In 2015, there's no way around this eclectic artist. His collaboration with Joy Orbison and his innovative dj sets are highly regarded throughout the world. This is why Boddika is the perfect artists to be the last to perform during the STRP Dance Night in the main hall. The subtle and layered tracks of Actress are filled with atmosphere and tension. Not by brute force, but with inventive sound-sculpting he's able to keep the audience under his control. His eclectic taste of music, and skilled dj-ing is precisely what the demanding audience of STRP appreciates, and values. Vessels, a five headed band from Leeds, have made quite an impression with their electronic music masterfully fusing the widescreen builds and elegant breakdowns of their previous work with altogether more physical electronic rhythms. Just in time for the Biennial, they'll release 'Dilate', which has been getting raving reviews already. One of the few things we know is that ZES is from Eindhoven, and that he released an EP that was received very well by press and audience alike. During this performance at STRP, he will be aided by the visual art of Dead Skull who also made ZES' debut video that already has been watched by over 1 million people. Cold Void & Plus Instruments is a unique collaboration by internet artist Rafael Rozendaal, filmmaker Luuk Bouwman and Dutch experimental music pioneer, nowadays living in the USA, Truus de Groot. Two of Rozendaal's works are also part of the exposition SCREEN ON | NO SCREEN of STRP Biennial 2015.
