Buckle up and hold on tight! Camden is about to be sent into a frenzy once again as KOKO plays host to a monster line up of the bassline elite. The Bug, Mala, Dub Phizix and Channel One Sound System join Soundcrash on 18 April 2015 to produce what is sure to be one of the most Earth-shattering performances of the year!
As the Bug; Kevin Martin re-interprets genres, from dancehall to grime and dubstep to jungle. For nearly 17 years he’s proved himself the rare artist capable of placing these sounds into more outlandish contexts without sacrificing any of their ferociousness. He is a master of manipulating sound, with an ability to squeeze every last decibelle from a sound system - your eardrums will blow before the speakers ever do. His latest album ‘Angels & Devils’ released in 2014 by Ninja Tune, included an impressive roster of artist collaborations including Flowdan, Gonjasufi and copeland to name a few.
Mala is a producer, DJ, label owner and visionary. His music has paved the way for many producers within the scene and will continue to do so. Mala is a steadfast addition to any line up for Soundcrash, most recently being the sell out Headline show back in October 2014 alongside Congo Natty and Dillinja. If you missed that show. You’re not going to want to miss this one! He has a deep connection with sound, a quality that unites the powerful and the peaceful frequencies together in a manner that is hypnotic and memorable for every audience member.
Next up on the bill is Dub Phizix, an artist that is consistently moulding Drum and Bass as a genre and redefining it’s sound. Tunes like ‘Marka’ have become a staple within almost every set you’ll hear from the genre’s leaders and pioneers. With releases on prolific labels such as Exit Records, Critical and Soul:R, it’s clear that Dub Phizix is an artist that has cemented his position in the industry and doesn’t intend to let it go anytime soon.
Finally, we have the duo Mikey Dread and brother Jah T aka Channel One, who’s successful mission of breaking down barriers via reggae music is being achieved by playing a string of new venues, festivals and different countries, taking their unique sound to Australia, New Zealand, Israel, Turkey and all over Europe. On top of this Channel One also celebrated 30 consecutive years at the Notting Hill Carnival making them one of the must see sound systems for attendees to Europe’s biggest street festival.
