As part of the forthcoming Popkomm festivities in Berlin (8-10th October), leading US digital distributors INgrooves are putting on night of leftfield disco,cosmic shenanigans and Berlin art noise at the Scala Club (Wednesday 8 October).
As the current wave of disco-love continues to swell, from Scandanavia to East London, to NY and beyond, it’s only fitting that the home of cutting edge dance music over the last five years should show off it’s two newest residents, Daniel Wang and Todd Terje, at Popkomm. No one’s going to try and claim the tide is finally turning in techno’s spiritual heartland, but Terje and Wang’s recent decampment to the home of minimal maybe a sign of things to come.
Joining them on the night will be Andy Blake, boss of the much sought after, vinyl only Dissident imprint, Damon Bloodbath from the outlandishy hip / degenerate East London night Disco Bloodbath, long time Berlin disco scenesters Franz Underwear and Binary Chaffinch, Tirk Records bod Matty J , Bugged Out resident Bi Bop. and Berlin scenester Sam Long.
With a 5 am finish and two rooms of Italo / Classic / Cosmic / Nu Disco / No Wave guaranteed, it’s going to be a lively start to this years' Popkomm, and maybe the start of something new for Berlin’s legendary nightpeople.
