Sat Feb 07 - We keep bringing it beautifully, soulfully hard at The South London Soul Train. This time with amazing 7 piece combo The Haggis Horns Live - joining Jazzheadchronic + so much more across 3 floors at the Bussey building/CLF Art Cafe - as the South London Soul Train continues it’s on-going, twice a month mission to funk up your mind and body + seriously release yoh soul!
Level 1, your host with the absolute most Jazzheadchronic + special guest First word Founder DJ Gilla unleash a nice and mighty combined 6 hour set of uplifting funk, soul, rare groove, brass band monsters and classic disco beasts without mercy. Loud, large and very, very direct to the whole of yoh soul. All night long. The Jazzhead Joined by heavyweight 7 piece live funk extravaganza The Haggis Horns "combining heavy breakbeat funk, soul, hip-hop and afrobeat with the virtuosity of trained jazz musicians"
The infamous Haggis Horns hardly need any introduction, having been at the forefront of the UK funk scene since they came to our attention on the legendary album “Keb Darge Presents The New Mastersounds”. Having formed after meeting at Leeds Music College they have two funkfuelled albums under their belt, “Hot Damn!” & “Keep On Movin” (First Word Records) and they have been rocking crowds the world over for years winning fans with their distinctive northern funk sound combining ass-shaking break-beats, afrobeat, soul and hip-hop.
The members of The Haggis Horns have performed with the likes of Jamiroquai, John Legend & The Roots, Amy Winehouse, Morcheeba, Roots Manuva, Lou Donaldson, Elbow, Nightmares On Wax, Dennis Coffey, Adele, Corinne Bailey Rae, Mark Ronson, Finley Quaye, Robbie Williams, Duran Duran, Craig Charles Presents The Fantasy Funk Band, The Cinematic Orchestra, Martina Topley-Bird, Kano, Estelle, Lily Allen, KT Tunstall & Snowboy, to name a few! So expected to be thoroughly roused and moved to the core by one of the best bands in the UK today.
Then on Level 2, Original Premier Rare Soul N' Funk Tag Team AKA Mssrs Snowboy and Perry Louis embark on another 7 hour marathon to find and deliver the absolute finest in funk on 45. Grooves to make you go hot, damn and how! Storming! The South London Soul Train line up completed on Level 2 in the back room with The Northern Soul Room. Your hosts The Legendary Rob Messer, Modern lovers Craig Jamieson and Claire Calvis dropping more seismic northern soul vibrations of epic proportions on yehs. All on 45! Beware the soul Shrapnel as the dance floor goes BOOM. + Don’t forget we’ve also got a whole other basement level dedicated to the art of the chill. A place to catch you’re breath between marathon stints on the dance floor. And with 3 dancefloors pumping all night long - believe us, you gonna need it.
As always, all floors taking all passengers on a Non-Stop Magical Mystery Tour through all things Too Damn Funky. P-Funk to Jazz Funk, Soul Jazz to Rare Groove N’ Stax, Motown to Club Classics and Anthems.
However - Passengers are requested to check their Souls at the Station as this ones for good time party people only! No Bass Wobbles Here, Only Love, Funk and Souuuuuuuul.
