The central theme of Spectrum City is an interactive subway map allowing you to journey through 80 years of recorded music history, plotted over a sprawling scene of musical genres. In what is a truly immersive experience, each "station" features a specially created DJ mix representing the sound and vibe of a fictitious neighbourhood. This unique project is now truly an underground phenomena, with over 100 expertly curated soundscapes available on the burgeoning site, and an accompanying podcast feverishly shared by music aficionados and casual browsers alike.
To celebrate their fifth birthday, Spectrum City have teamed up with The George Tavern - a music venue in the East End of London that itself embodies 700 years of musical heritage. Ricky Chopra, the chief Architect of Spectrum City said, “We were looking for a venue that our people would feel at home in. We weren’t interested in pleather glamour, or borrowed nostalgia - we were looking for that raw authentic un-cut Rock ‘n’ Roll experience. The George is like no other venue in the world. You can literally hear the echoes of our shared musical past reverberate off of the walls and beer-stained floor!”
Spectrum City DJs are planning a very special sonic experience on the night that will bridge genres as diverse as Blues, Techno and Hip Hop, through to Jazz, Drum & Bass and Deep House - fusing your favourite classics with future club bangers - all stitched to a four-to-the-floor sensibility.
