Berlin via Lisbon, Milan, Caracas. Janus presents three artists making sounds outside of the traditional axis of club music, each formative in shaping the sound of their community.
Already one of the most highly respected producers of his generation, the Venezuelan-born Arca has made a name for himself from high-profile collaborations with Björk, Kanye West, FKA Twigs. His DJ sets reflect the abrasive and industrial aesthetics of NYC’s underground queer club scene, honed in parties like Ghe20Goth1k, where ethereal Pop goes head-to-head with brutal bass and glitched-out Electronics.
There will be a special live appearance from Primitive Art, the Milan-based duo of Jim Nedd and Matteo Pit. Their hypnotic, afrofuturist take on Dub and Techno has made them stalwarts of the DIY electronic scene in Italy where they run leading club nights Progresso and Club Adriatico.
Nigga Fox, prodigy of Portugal’s thriving Kuduro & Ghetto House scene, has made a name for himself as a DJ in the greater Lisbon clubs, while refining his own productions as a member of the Principe records crew. His idiosyncratic style, blending Kuduro, Deep House, Tarraxinha, & Batida, sounds like European club music warped to Angolan specifications.
